I read in the Des Moines Sunday paper that starting this summer they are filming a Green Hornrt movie for the big screen. It's staring Seth Rogen.
A friend of mine last summer designed the theme and made the scale model for what will be the Green Hornet Mobile...very cool stuff- I think its a Michael Bay Production: Odd fact: did you know that the Green Hornet was a spin off of the Batman TV series and was suppose to be the "serious" batman counterpart showing at nighttime instead of kiddie day time.... also there is only one episode inwhich the Batman and the Hornet appear in on the Batman Series (prior to the Hornet getting his own TV spot)

Now I can see some of you saying, Seth who? Yeah sure his name aint that huge yet (well his waist is) but he stole The 40 Year Old Virgin from Steve Carrell, was the funniest thing in You, Me & Dupree, and starred in recent hit Knocked Up so he's definetely moving up the slippery slope that is hollywood. Rogen would play Brit Reid, millionaire publisher-turned-masked crime fighter. "The Green Hornet" started as a radio serial before being turned into a comic book, film and TV series by the 1960s. The TV show was notable for the presence of the late Bruce Lee as sidekick Kato, a kung fu expert with a killer car. Neal Moritz is producing, and no word of any directorial talent yet. That should be cool. I worked on Batman (TV) and Green Hornet back in the 60's. Batman was fun to work on. (lighting crew) Cat Woman etc...
This has the potential to be unbelievably cool or fully lame. I so much hope it is the former. One of the coolest pictars on the Interweb:
I'll go with Lame...C'mon,Seth Rogan??? Who's going to play Kato? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/81k_34ouQhM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/81k_34ouQhM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
who remembers the garage sequence? GH/Britt Reid's car pulls in, clamps lock it to the floor, and then the floor spins over to reveal either Black Beauty or his "normal" Imperial limo. way cool effect, until you start to think about what happens to cars when they're UPSIDE DOWN.... the oil would leak out of the valve covers/filler tube/breathers, the trans fluid would leak out of the case breather and the fill tube, the master cylinder would yada yada yada..... heck, what about all the loose change and used rubbers under the seats? BTW i loved the show reagrdless of dumbshit like that. heck, does anyone here think the A Team could purposely MISS everything they shot at?
check out the other thread started by v194,he owns one of the cars and that was covered including the utube clip........
If it was done like this..... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1Rjm53J1G4M&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1Rjm53J1G4M&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
are you kidding? seems like the Big ThreeTV can't get a new original idea without watching BBC..... and this has gone on since the All in the Family days. Norman Lear was a THIEF he never came up with a honest idea of his own for a TV show. i tried SEVERAL times to recreate a "Black Beauty" in 1/25 scale... chopped up a BUNCH of '60's kits to get nowhere fast. the BB was closer to a "real life" hero car than the BatMobile, much as i love the BM; seems that Kato didn't NEED labels on all the controls and devices in order to drive!
I'm thinking that in either the comic or the radio show that the first "Black Beauty" was a Zephyr coupe. Ayone else remember it that way?
Interesting! Any more info on this? Pictures? Actually The Green Hornet was never a spin off. It started out as a separate series. Played out in a serious vein on Friday nights at 7:30 1966-7 season. The Hornet did a episode of Batman where they fought to a draw. "A Piece of the Action" 3/1/67 followed by "Batman's Satisfaction" 3/2/67 Was the episode with original airdates.
FWIW, Britt Reid's grandfather was Dan Reid, nephew of the Lone Ranger. Thus, the Green Hornet was the Lone Ranger's grand-nephew.
