I'm now home when everyone else is at work, I can make as much noise as i want to. waved to the neighbors , as they go to work, pulled the 32 frame out , finished welding it up, and spent the rest of the day grinding and sanding for prime. Did 3 weekends worth of work in 5 hours. Might have it painted and rolling in 2 weeks. It most be real nice to be retired.

I have so many parts built up for so many projects that a layoff would be more like work than work. The lovely says we could retire on what I have stashed in parts cabinets. I'll probably get everything up-n-runnin just about the time we have to turn all the real cars for a 2010 pelosi.

    The frame looks great!

I'll be getting permanently laid off at the end of June.
Summer off! I'm pretty excited about thrashing on my 27 for a couple of months while I looks for a new job.

I was laid off for 3 months starting in Dec. Didn't get anything done it was so damn cold. 3 coldest months of the year is when I get to spend some time off for the first time in 20 yrs. Plus I couldn't justify spending any money on the car. Didn't get a damn thing done...

  13. Don't be so sure on that.;) My dad would always say he couldn't believe how much he had to do after he was retired. He wondered how he could get it all done when he was working.

I gotta say it's pretty cool to see so much positive attitude in this thread! Getting layed off sucks, but it's what YOU do afterwards that will define how things go for ya.

I'm glad you're getting stuff done, and I wish you luck when you're ready to get back out there and hit the bricks! It's not great, but it's not the end of the world either:D

oh, i did put a new window in yesterday...but as stated before, cant justify spending any money on a hobby right now so the car just sits. I'll do little things to it that dont cost money but the construction part is at a stand still

I was in big construction before I retired early.Layoffs were part of the game. You live on the cheap while working, then ya got money to spend on a car project during layoffs.

It's fantastic. Been that way since Jan. 27, 06. If you are bored being work off it's your own fault. Lots of things you could be doing that don't cost a bundle. You already have a hobby, must be some work you can do on it that doesn't cost.

I got laid off 7 months ago, but the old lady's still workin' so it's not so bad financially. I'm thinkin' about turning my hobby into an income and buildin' for a livin'. Always wanted my own Rod shop, guess now's as good a time as any!
