the chevy swap is popular on 70's z cars. makes one quick enough that the guy next to you will shit his pants. I've seen one with a big block also. modern, well if you call a 70's car modern, day cobra basically. those early z cars were some nice looking rides too.

Leo the liar told me he and his brother drove their 65 tri-power 389 GTO with a 4.11 gear all the way from KC to LA where they laid 100,00 cubic yards of concrete for a friend. They had the cement mixers lined up as far as the eye could see. After they laid it all, they drove the GTO back to KC and all the while, they got about 17 to 20 mpg driving over 70 MPH all the way. He was serious and really believed he did all this. Too much dope or booze I think causes this.

I love when people come up to me and tell me I have a nice gto, plymouth, or chrysler. I once told a middle aged dude at Wawa my car was a '62 and he told me "no its a '60". The best is when they tell me my pontiac engine is a big block. I tell them all what it is but Im always wrong about the car I built.

I was not doubting that it could be done, i found humor in the fact that he was telling me a 350 is a big block and a 305 was a small block and they were two different size blocks.

Ive seen v8`s in z cars and a honda, im sure one could fit in a miata.

  12. The small block Ford Miata is a pretty tidy little package. There was a lot of them for a while. Kind of a baby Cobra.

  13. There was this ex Navy guy I worked with in a Gas station in Wichita in around '79.
Nice enough guy. A talker and always smozing the ladies. At the time I had bought my 66 Hertz car not too long before. The tranny was out. I think it was the clutch or something like that so I wasn't driving it. The station was walking distance from my house. We were talking cars one day. I said I had the Shelby. We talked about that and then he said he had a "little" Dino. I said "you have a Ferrari?" He said it was his little toy. He said he had picked it up in California. I asked why he wasn't driving it more? He had some reason. At first I thought he was on the level. He could have thought I was full of crap about my GT 350. I started noticing how often this sailor would drop a word about his Dino. I realized he was blowing hot air. I'm sure he thought the same of me and my Shelby Mustang.
After a few weeks of working there I finally had what ever was wrong with my 4 speed fixed. I asked my boss If I could bring the Mustang in to fix it. He said sure.
When I towed the car in to put the top loader back in I think Popeye about shit his pants. I put the transmission back in the old girl. Ahhhhh wheels. I still heard about the Dino but there was always some reason he couldn't drive it. Too bad. it's one of my favorite cars.

About 7 or 8 years ago some red faced dude came up to me as I'm about to open the door on my 56 and states something like "That's Johns truck! What are you doing??!!"

    "No It's mine." I said

"I know the guy this belongs to."

"Then tell him I'm stealing it."

  16. Hell, he should have joined Starfleet and piloted Captain Kirk around. Or sold the engine to NASA.

I'm sitting behind the wheel of the '56 Olds while Brian and Darryl run into the store to grab some beer. This dorky looking scumbag comes across the parking lot and challenges me to a race for pinks. I politely explain that the Olds is my brothers' and I'm not interested anyway. He goes on to tell me how his '93 Ford Escort (!!!) would smoke my old p.o.s. and that I should race him. He then points across the parking lot at the previously mentioned "race car" and starts spewing off all this crap about how he's worked the head and installed nitrous, blah blah blah. By this time, Brian and Darryl have gotten back in the car and I'm getting aggrevated at this dumbass that's now leaning through my window to yak at Brian. I put the Olds in reverse and start to back up. Dumbass slaps the roof of the Olds. I stop and tell dumbass he's about to get his ass whooped. He says "you know,... you're right!", turns and runs to his escort and hauls ass. I swear to you this story is NOT made up!

Dude in a parking lot with a BBC/tunnel ram was bet the motor would'nt live with a brick on the pedal WOT for 30 seconds. Took the bet. At 20 seconds the motor screaming-locks up. The momentum of the crank spinning made the car flip over upside down.
