The Olds rag top is one of many very competative stockers of Ed "Hillbilly" Duncan, hard man to beat

Great thread. NT is my "home" track. Grew up in Newark. Went to the Springnationals there throughout the 70's. Fun Times.

I remember Hillbilly Duncun, he never had sleeves on his shirts and a rubber chicken or was that when he was running Columbus Motor Speedway? He had a used car lot on 3C Highway I beleive.

The middle and far right pics are both of Larry Janney's car, and I believe they are of the same pass.
Anyone else with old NTR pics is welcome to jump in on this thread and post what cha got. Let's see 'em!

A couple Bowties (I really dig the lettering on the '57) and what has to be just about the shortest actual Funny Car ever.

Looking north up the track. The original tower is the tall structure to the left and behind the 2nd tower. Both are now gone.
The lanes and entrance roads are mostly in their original location in this picture (completly different now) but the race surface itself is still in the original footprint. The bridge over the staging lanes was lettered with "Only the Strong Survive". It was taken down and in pretty bad shape when the configuration was changed, its remains are today rotting in the woods seen in the upper right corner of the picture.

Bowties and Beetles. I was showing some folks the pic with the Beetle and a guy there that I didn't know got all excited. Said that is his father in the Vdub and he did not own any pictures of it, so I hooked him up. That was kinda cool.

Guys, if you dig these pics, you might get a kick out of the parcel shelf on my '56 Dodge. I made copies on photo paper and then sprayed the collage with a UV-protectant spray. Been in there about 3 years, no yellowing.

Ol' Art Fenice in the "Poison Dart", I believe that man raced longer than most of us will live. The Fenice name is also on the Anglia, but I do not know the exact connection.

And here is another photo that deserves its own post. That is Wally Parks and the chick with the sfi Snell-approved hair is "Miss Springnationals" 1972. (the first year it was held at NTR) The dark thing on the tower behind Wally is "Bull Moose". Clark Rader shot this moose and it hung on the tower as a good-luck charm during every Springnational. Local guy owns the moose now, it still gets hung at the track occasionally. Maybe for the 45th Anniversary they will get it back out
