So while hitting up a couple secret locations for stuff, I came across this head. It looks pretty cool, but I just can't figure out what it's from. Any help would be great!

That's what I thought at first, but the chevy ab had 2 intake ports and 2 exhaust ports not one, right?

2 head bolts per cylinder? Bet they had head gasket issues with that one.

  9. I prefer it when Yankee Doodle is being hummed.

Looks like the head from an edsel-alley ostrich. Built in about 19somethinorother.

I have no idea what head that is but I'd just about bet if you can't find any other use for it that you could make on helliva trot line weight out of it.

If it was an F head it would only have intake ports and valves, and clearance for the exhaust valve to open. No Willy

With the flat bottom and general look...surely it is something from the Chevy/Olds family??
On the other hand, a head Fox can't ID has to be something really wierd, quite possibly extraterrestrial. 1912 Finzi-Zamboni Tourist Trials model?

I think it's an old diesel head. Can't see a spark plug hole, maybe those are injector holes?

Must be one of them Hemi things

  16. The negitive Hemi. The dome was in the piston. :p

    I think diesel too.

  17. I suppose for a diesel you'd need more head bolts though. That wouldn't hold compression very well.

You got good pics of the Top & Bottom .....

But maybe some SIDE shots would help !!

And whatever the casting Numbers are could help.

My buddy has a 1916-17 Chevy 4 with external Valvtrain & i think its 2 port in & 1 port out. Don't rightly remeber but you could search that.

It's an early Chevy. Only the last couple years had two exhaust ports.

I would be hoping it's a compressor head. It sure wouldn't hold much compression. It looks like the spark plugs fire into the hole between the valves. Never saw a compressor with spark plugs that was made to be a compressor. Thing would never live as a diesel

  24. OK, here's what it really is.
It is a Chevy head, about a 25 or so. The earlier cars had a single exhaust port like the one pictured. About 1928, they went to a two port head. The two port heads are worth a couple of hundred if they're good. The Model "T" guys use them to create a "Poor Man's Rajo" setup. A spacer/adapter is used to make a combustion chamber and to adapt the head to the "T" block. On the Chev, the pistons did not come up flush with the deck, hence the flat surface on the head. Sorta like an early "W" block. I don't know if it would have any value to a "T" guy, but it may be worth grabbing just in case.

i said all that...without the tech stuff

  26. Just tryin' to bring a bit of history into the post. If hopping up a "T" ain't traditional, then I guess I need to go work for Dwaine. I'll try to keep the "tech stuff" to a minimum. Maybe we can discuss pomade or tattoos.
But I'll give ya' props, it is a Chev head as you stated.;)
