    Folks;

I recently aquired an old, reputedly x Indy roadster chassis, last raced at Oswego by a driver named Tom "Leason" some twenty-five plus years ago.

Any suggestions as to how I might research the history of the car and the former owner would be appreciated!

I would suggest getting in contact with Steve Miller from Mexico, NY. He has restored a number of Indy roadsters, and has raced at Oswego for years. He probably can at least send you in the right direction.

Mac Miller should be able to fix you up with the 60s body work, if thats your direction.

  10. I like that car either way! Of course if it's an Indy Roadster, that is different.

There was this picture also, which actually looks more like the chassis that I have. The motor is not as offset. (note "Snoopy on the cowl)

I sure appreciate all the responses... what a treasure trove of knowledge.

I did get a tail section with Snoopy and painted blue that seems to fit on the chassis that I have.

If anyone knows where Tom is

Regarding the Weinberger car, Mr. Seymour sold the car to Charlie Chariot from Norwalk Ct. He raced it a year or to and sold it to Pete Johnston also of Ct. Pete raced it for 1 year in URC and sold it to Mike Wickler also from Ct. Mike struggled with the aging car and traded it for a midget from Texas. Spoke to Mike this summer about the trade and he could only remember that the midget was yellow in color but could not remember the gents name .Hope this helps.

  19. That probably places the car as going to Dallas/Ft. Worth or south of there. North texas was mostly 100" wheelbase territory.

tex44 might be able to help.

That Sprint Car was raced by Pete Johnston in URC, color was red, number was 84.
Back to my favorite subject; does anybody have more Champ Car pics from the old dirt miles? The Sacto pics are great, and there are still several tracks ive never seen. How about San Jose, or Lakewood mile in Atlanta?
Was the track at the Ohio State Fair a mile? In Columbus?
Another ive not seen was the mile at Detroit. An old long-gone friend name of Ernie McCoy won there once i think.
Thanks for anything anyone would like to share.

I remember seeing that car back in the 1970's in Chariot's garage, John Cox gave me the tour. Thought is was a real nice looking car, and rare to see a sprint car in Fairfield County.

    Corngrower...
    About Granatelli's picture...
IIRC you were right when you said the original car was a flathead.
But the car shown in the second picture?
Sure looks like a twin stick to me.
    What am I missing?

Here's the one I picked up today with actual decent pictures. It's got a Wisconsin engine with a Fairbanks magneto and a Crosley rearend. I think this is just a quarter midget isn't it? Everything turns over easily in it so I think we can get it running here shortly.

I raced at the Ohio state fair in 1966 at Columbus and it was a 1/2 mile [ the roughest, rutty] track I was ever on [missed the show and Mr. Hartley was gald]. Bob Hope was on the next day.

P.S.--- A lot of fans were up against the rail between 3/4 during warmups, Tat went up against the rail sideways and they never came back. It was the first time I heard of Bobby Black[he was driving for the Hoffmans] and he was flipping down the back stretch right in front of me and I liked to never missed him. He was hurt but not bad. Remember this was before rollcages.

    UncleScooby,

That thing looks much bigger than a quarter midget to me...even bigger than a half midget....maybe a homebuilt TQ? Especially if front-engined and if your wheels on your trailer are what....10" wheels? Where is Dean Lowe when I need him??? Ha!

Unclescooby, Was writing while you were posting/. What you have whould be a 1/2 midget by the motor in it. TQ's had a bigger motor.

I guessed it was a 1/4 midget before, but with better pics and discription I'd say a very early 3/4 midget. Check with these guys they may have some history:
