I remember a guy in our neighborhood had two of them. (Oxnard California) One was a shortened VW bus and the other was a shortened Nomad!

I LIKE it! It looks like the "Uncertain T" if they hadn't made it look like it was falling over.

I got one but why the hell would anyone want to shorten a car. I understand stretching it but shorting it makes it look absolutley hidious. Unless you still wanna look good driving around italy or something [IMG]

Back in 67 or 68 there was a dude (or a couple of them) that shortened a VW bus...no big deal - it's been done before. Then the took the center section and grafted it into a 2nd VW bus - they had to reinforce the floors with steel beams, of course, but the end result was just awesome...looked like an airport limo, but the guy said that if he put in as many people as the bus would seat - it took him a half hour to get across an intersection from a standing start.

My neighbor made a shorty out of a 57 moredoor wagon...it was ok - not my cup of tea.

  14. When I was a kid, in merrimack n.h., there was a guy with a shortened mid sixtys ford wagon , it was not as short s most of these cars, it still had shortened rear doors. it looked pretty good. I never saw it finished, the builder moved to florida and took it with him, it was painted red white and blue.

Here are some shot's of my rides I shorten about every thing I build. 49 and 56 are both shortened 7" and laid on the mat with no bags. the woody started as a 2 1/2 ton dual wheel flat bed and is setting at ride height.

29 chrysler shortened about a foot. Starting picture came courtesy of a recent ebay auction but is the same year/model/body. It's my huge hot rod!!

That looks pretty cool. I like the last picture where you have made the cowl, dash, doors and the body flow together. What is the dash made from?

thanks, 55/56 chrysler. When the weather breaks I'm gonna take some proper pics and do a build thread.

  22. Haha! I did a winged Mopar too. A 1959 Dodge Viscount.
(It's a Canadian car- Dodge front end Plymouth rear).

I built a 440 for it, painted it up like an old 413 and one day I went out back and it was stolen!
I figure somebody needed a nice shape front end, they would have to be dumb to drive a shortened 59 Dodge that was stolen. ;)

here are a couple of Pshop tests done some time back of Forward Look era mopars minus the mid section. The 4 door hardtop looks nice but the roof should probably be ragtop?

On one of the Chevette sites there's a 4 dr Chevette shortened into a 2 dr! Looks a lot like that running 2 legged horse. Oh the humanity. Butch/56sedandelivery.
