Me too. My dad had a set, long gone now, but would like to see a set on my Tbird. Maybe even my fairlane.

The pic of Dick Landy's '64 Dodge in '64 with Keystones would answer the HAMB-friendly question, as '64 is the "cut-off" date for the HAMB.

As to whether or not they're cool, that's in the eye of the beholder. I remember them being very common in the 60s, so common that they kind of fell from favor much like torque-thrusts are now. Of course, in the early 70s, torque-thrusts weren't real popular either...I bought a nice set for my Chevy for $50

I like them. Great looking wheel... they'd look good on bigger, '50s and '60s vehicles done in the mid to late '60s fashion, and on full-fendered street rods with a skinny white, and drag cars, either as a full set on one end only, as the mix and match was pretty popular.

DO NOT USE THEM WITH A WIDE WHITEWALL..... ever. They were a perfomance-inspired wheel from the era preceding the wide whites. Skinny whites, black walls, slicks or raised white letters only , depending on the car's build style.

For the record, I *heart* Cragars...

I think they look cool on this car with the Radirs. But in a more early-mid-60's kind of way. Very dragstrip though for sure.

There's the rub though. How many guys in this thread that don't like them, would NEVER run anything that wasn't some form of steelie anyway?

  20. I never really cared for them myself. Too '70s (sorry I didn't like the whole 70s vibe when it was cool), but Ronnie did. To each there own I guess.

I actually throuhg a set out last year, they came with a project as rollers and I couldn't find anyone who would even haul them off to use for rollers.

BTW I know we are the kinder gentler HAMB but I'm just not ready to call the '70s Trad.

OH! Now you tell me. Good thing they are just a set of clapped out wheels that DirtyT had laying around and some old tires from Fat Hack's old Merc. We'll make sure that when we get a set of pretty ones with the right lug nuts and washers that we only run raised white letter tires!

Actually, we *heart* Cragars, too. They're on the list of options to score!

If you like em, run em. They bolt on so they can bolt right back off when you get sick if em. Then sell em to another kid or a old guy with a courderoy jacket with patches on the sleeves. those are the only people I remember running them.

This 58 I picked up a couple a months ago has keystones. They painted the centers blue to match the truck and added knock offs. I think im going to replace them with black 15 x8 or 15 x 10s steels.

I just wonder ,if one of the hamb heroes put one on their latest creation, how many guys would be searching ebay for a set?

If you like em, run em. The way I see it, if someone doesn't like my car, they don't have to ride with me. Walking is way cooler.

  30. Ah, the old Keystone K Ralleys!

There were some very cool and tough looking street machines running those back in the day. Gee, when you think back to the early '70's, Cargar S/S, the above wheel and the Keystone slotted mag were the wheels to have.

    Good luck on your decision!

    Joel
