Update on the Elrod 31 Coupe! The Fidgiter and I spent the weekend bringing her out of the clouds and down into the dirt. I'm really happy with the new look!! I'm shooting for a Mid '40s style hot rod gow job and it's finally getting to the finished look I'm after.

We pulled the stock front spring and reversed the eyes using a press at Revhead's shop. Used '32 spring perches with a stretched and dropped 4 inch Model A axle and stock a unsplit wishbones. Put the Model A tierod on the bottom of the steering arms and running stock draglink.

Still running mechanical brakes. They said it couldn't be done with a dropped axle, but "they" were wrong! Fidgiter saved the day with some bolt on tabs that raise the brake levers up to meet the kingpins. Stops like a champ!

Model T spring out back with 2 leaves gone. Stock Model A Houdaille shocks keep the coupe straight and narrow. Not too much bounce!

Love the way it looks! Love the way it drives! Just in time for the Autorama!!! Now for some pics.

Excellent altitude adjustment. Just the lowering gives it a hot rod look.

Everytime you touch that pile, it makes me wanna have one. And I am not a hot rod guy. Between you and Eric, a hot rod may be in the works.

It'll be easier to push on the trailer this year. ;) And oh ya, I'm driving it biotch!

No worries! It's on the list but I want to torch an original bar though and drop it the way they did back in the day.

With the 4" drop axle...the '32 spindles fit perfect. Using the '32 spring perches lets the upper steering arm clear and still gives a mounting boss for the brake lever. Put a tab on the boss to raise it about an inch or so to meet with the stud on the brake lever. We reamed out the spindles to fit in the bolt-on tie rod ball studs so we could use the stock Model A tie rod ends. Needed a little adjustment on the brake rods. Had to do a little clearanceing of the shock links because the '32 perches are longer so the links had to be at a bit of an angle instead of straight up. Didn't have to do a thing on the back.

I can't believe how bad ass the car looks now. It's an amazing transformation!! Check out the new louvered splash apron too. I'm really excited and proud of this coupe....there are none better!
