I have talked with Woody Gilmore, his 1st employee Paul Sutherland and the late Pat Foster. I have over 200 pages of reference on the Jim Brissette Woody car and Woody Gilmore. I drew up chassis blueprints before I started building and Sutherland who built the original chassis in June of 1964 approved it. There are some improvements, but they are minor.
Thanks ! The wheelbase is 144'' and the motor is out 21'' at 6 degrees of dump. Just one of those " Southern California Killer Cars " ! 205 mph in 1964 with a 331 hemi, 219 mph in 1965, 224 mph in 1966 with a 354 grenade motor.

Riceman, Nice job! I have literally seen hundreds of Woody's car run and your reproduction is spot on. When I was just out of college and living in Long Beach I was kind of a wantabee drag racer and tried to stop by Woody's place off of Woodruff in Lakewood as much as possible. Saw Pete Robinson build his Woody car, can you believe it weighted around 1100 lbs with a 392! also say Tom Hoover, so many others. Woody built the best and they went the fastest! Again, Nice job. Rex, this is a dream of the a long time Front Engine Top Fuel Dragster Nitro nut. I weighed the car dry and it is 1190 lbs. I have had coaching from Kent Fuller, Paul Sutherland, Tom Jobe, Pat Foster, Tom Hanna and did the research to reach this point. Thanks

Don't you build a racecar to race ? If the Rule makers let it do a 300 ft smoker, I'll be happy. I have built in a few more safety items in the chassis to make this happen. Thanks Rocky
You've done a really great job on this chassis. I've been wondering why you didn't use the more traditional Woody style steering rocker on the front crossmember? I've not seen many if any with the drag link going directly to the front wheel.
The first series of dragster chassis that came out of Woody's Race Car Engineering were built with the steering arm on the left spindle, this along with 4 radius rods. Paul Sutherland(3-64)Jim Brissette(6-64), and Yeakel Plymouth of Lou Baney(11-64) are examples. The 1/2 Cresent Bellcrank type steering was a Pete Odgen design, 2 radius rods and front axle mounts for the radius rods were some design changes in early 1965. The drawing of the three different chassis designs you have , I did. I have looked at the chassis you have for your Fuel Coupe and it is a Logghe Bros, 1968 era. I did move, about a year ago, over to Morro Bay. Bob Dell (the legendary Bob Dell) is still in charge of the food...... And lubricating the ground when changing the oil. Bob is a "lurker" on here so I must carefully choose my words. W1, I got my eye on you...
