I'm not sure if I can self nominate, but I was going for a more sublte, down-played, not over done look. Not sure if it's considered "classy" or not, but on some days I'd consider my car more "assy", it just depends if it's actin' up...
Here are my photos of John Babcoc's ´40 Merc in Portland Roadster Show -06. Cool thread, keep 'em coming. --mika
Wow !!!...I feel honoured to have my car added to this thread amongst all those other beautifull cars, but Sweats deserves all the credit, I'm just adding the finishing touches. Deano
ok who saw james hatfields new custom the crimson ghost which is a 37 ford,at the GNRS.That thing is awesome ,really a beautiful custom with mile deep paint and a gorgeous chop,i think it way better then cole fosters 36 for kirk hammett.any opinions?
rocks rod and custom thanks for the photos.Only reinforces the fact that its a beautiful custom, the rear end of the 37 is amazing, the tail light treatment, the way the whole thing flows is unbelieveable,if i am not mistaken this is a rick dore built car.The orange 36 is amazing,he has a way with the 30s era vehicles thats for sure
I would like to include Rob Gerring's Morning Star 50 Chevy custom. It doesn't get much classier than caddy dagmars, caddy fenders and even a rotary phone and matching guitar. The car was on the cover of Goodguys Gazette June 06 issue, and it was a finalist for best custom of the year competing against Oz Wech and Cole Foster. It won many awards and best of all was built by the owner, and his friends. Very little was done at shops.Bestof all he only lives 5 minutes from me and is helping me with my merc project. Unfortunately Rob sold this car, and wishes he hadn't. He wants to build another one like it, but with some differences. I don't know how to post the pictures, but Rikster has some pics of it on his web site.
There are some in a small album in my profile. Work on fiddly stuff is continuing slowly at the moment.
gonna jump the gun even though it isnt done yet, .... the most inspiring build thread i have ever read. thanks everyone for this thread. i cant believe i havent seen it before. stuff like this keeps a fell out in the garage in the whee hours of the morning. all are truly works of art. i feel like a kid when i look at pictures like this.
It doesn't get much classier than old Buicks and Cadillacs and Mercs that shine and chrome tou out. Love them fastbacks, not much better. Rags
