Thought I would get your brain workin' on a Monday. The first one with all three correct answers will get a care package in the mail. Might make this a Monday thing for a while if everyone likes it. Subject: Alexander Brothers Deora Dream Truck 1. Who was the designer of the project? 2. What vehicle was it originally. 3. What is the windshield from.
We have a winner! Gonna have to make it harder next week. Mr. G, PM me a mailing address and I'll send you your prize. Thanks for playing. Would like some feedback if you would like to do this every Monday morning for a while.
question #5 & #6, what did Bradley want to call it and who eventually came up with the name and how?
the first three were wayyyyy too easy. #4 Mustang taillight bezels. #5 slips my mind and #6 is from a model car magazine contest to name the car. the kid thought "Deora" ment "Golden" in spanish. he was wrong but the name stuck.
i think i remember. Bradley wanted to call it "XTAB" for eXperemental Truck by the Alexander Brothers. right??? oh and i forgot you wanted the name of they guy who named it "Deora" that was David Hagedorn.. i just read all about this thing somewhere, but i can't remember where. i'm surprised i rememebr any of this though. Mike
kustombuilder, correct on #4, #5 was XTAB (expeimental truck by alexander brothers) and #6 was 13 year old David Hagedorn who entered it through Car Model Magazine.
Harry Bradley was also Mattel's first designer working on Hot Wheels. When it came to choosing the first wave of cars, Deora was one that Harry obviously knew all about!
I think it would be kool dadd-o to have a triva question on monday mornings (even though I'll never be able to answer any of the questions cause I don't know shit). I learn alot from these kind of posts.
We'll do again next week and see how it goes. I'll see if I can come up with a little harder questions. We'll run it a while if the postage don't break me.
I looked at your questions...not bad...but time to bang it up a notch! 1. What size where the original Deora wheels, and what were they made from? 2. What kind of gauges were used in the Deora? 3. What vehicle supplied the steering wheel? 4. Who built the shift linkage for the manual transmission? 5. How much was the Deora sold for in 1969, and who bought it? 6. Who drove the Deora in it's first road test? 7. In it's second road test? 8. Who built the side scoops on the restored Deora? 9. What vehicle supplied the console ashtray? 10. What kind of intake manifold was used on the Deora? Good luck!
Boy, you are digging up a few old posts! I think all the answers are on your site, so I won't cheat, but it might get you some traffic! I still haven't found any more pictures of it in Green for you...
I see that none of my questions can be answered by mere mortals! Too bad, as I could get some real toughies for y'all!
1. 13 inch chromed steel wheels 2. stewart warner custom (greenline) I would have to cheat to get the rest of em haha
Please keep it going , I will chip in for some postage. I met the A bros. in 1965, my Father took me to see them , we were going to the Henery Ford musem in Detroit. Thanks Dad
