Here's how the story goes... The car began its racing career in Ohio in 1961 with Paul Roberts at the wheel. Roberts raced the car for several short years before selling the car in approx 1964. The car was parked shortly thereafter and sat until 2004-05. Since then (2004-05) it has been sitting in a local friends barn, here in Maryland. The car featured a 283 bored .60 over with a Hilborn Fuel Injection set up. We are told the engine was bult by "Ohio" Goerge Montgomery.

Any information about the driver or car would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

    Car: 1957 Chevy 150
    Location: Ohio
    Date: 1961-1964 (approx)
    Driver: Paul Roberts
Engine: 283 .60 over with Hilborn Fuel Injection

Although I don't know anything about the car, I knew Paul Roberts. Unfortunately, he passed away a couple of years ago. It's entirely possible that George Montgomery built the engine. I remember Paul mentioning him a time or two. They were from the same end of town and drag racers from the same era. I believe Paul's wife still has his '57 Nomad.

The filled gunsights on the hood are interesting. I wonder when the bodywork/paint was done?

Man does this bring back memories.

I don't know anything about this particular car, but the resemblance to one I bought about 5 years ago is amazing.

The one I had came from Cali and still had faint markings of a auto shop name on the rear quarters. It was in the same shape, and someone had been sanding on it some. With alot of work I got the old 283 running again, man was it outrageous. Not real fast but, man did it have a wild idle and would it rpm.

Sadly I sold it to some guy who decided to street rod it, now it's shiney and has bucket seats from a camaro or something.

Don't sell yours, you'll kick yourself like I do..

Very cool. Ohio George isn't very hard to get in touch with for possible verification. I'm just wondering though if there might have been more information if he had ran it in the longer years.

Call Goerge and see if he remembers building the engine. He still runs the same shop in the same building. I was just in there talking to him a few months ago. Good guy.

Hope this aint a stupid question, but what's the deal with the shifter? There seems to two shifters in that one pic; one with a thin round rod & the other flat one with the orange handle:confused:

I met George when I was a teenager working for Dick Vest in high school.I've talked to George several times recently at the Hot Rod Re-Unions.He's got a fantastic memory,he could maybe tie up some loose ends for you. Giz'
