Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by junkmanjr, Jan 31, 2009.

  1. About to start working on my 40 coupe. Need some inspiration! I know looks like hell. But I already have the decklid and fenders worked and a great hood and grille.

As long as you don't mind the lower 8 inches of the whole car made out of Bondo, fiberglass and chicken wire.

  3. Holy shit man! Mine's pretty solid. It does have enough original floors to stand up in. Mine needs quarter patches and a tailpan (standard issue).

This is mine. I have owned it 44 years. Rebuilt it three times and just about to start driving the hell out of her again. The pickup has been my daily driver.

Here are a few spanning my 30 years of ownership...

one from 1979, one about 4 months ago, and two from about a month or so ago...

See if you can tell which is which.... :D

A couple of the photos look kind of similar to yours.... with the wheel dolies and all....

Incentive? IDK, depends if you judge the progress in the last few months or the last few decades...

My dad's. Built by him and my late grandfather. The first pictures is the finished car with the top and the last three are the finished car before the top was installed.

Here's my '39 DeLuxe. First pic is January '07 when Ben D. delivered the carcass to me. Second picture is March '08 on our way to Billetproof. That's my Poor Boys brother Rooster giving the carbs a final tweaking. Currently the car is sitting as a result of a crash the took out the front end. Should be back on the road next week.

My high school sedan, a sedan I did several years ago then like a dummy sold it, my 40 coupe getting close, my next tudor waiting in the wings [sorry for the lousy shot]. Red tudor is the look I am after on this one. Red 40 coupe morphed into maroon tudor. Sorry my pics aren't the best.

Just starting mine. Could use some help in learning what holds the front end together. Have some good steel front fenders and hood, got the frame re-done with IFS and parallel leafs in back. Ford 9", 383 w/turbo 400. Long ways to go guys.....

I had to figure out what holds the front end together myself, I had no freaking idea.... not a lot...

From what I have gathered, the inner fenders hook to the frame in a few spots foremost to the front with some angle brackets, the grille ties the fenders together and the bottom of the grille hooks to the radiator pan.

There is also a brace that connects the inner fenders together. It is shaped like an upside down arch. the two ends of the arch hook to the inner fenders and the middle hooks to the frame somewhere... I need to make this "somewhere" on my frame...

I did not know that this arch existed until I saw it for sale on ebay... :)

All of these little "pieces" of attachment add up to make a pretty stout unit..

If you want I can post up or send you some pics of how I THINK this all works... let me know if you want..
