We saw a few of these intakes in person on Saturday at the Kaiser Devereaux show in Sarasota..they look to be really nice pieces.

Like MBL said...we saw them in person...They looked good...but the flyer seemed to indicate that they will need to be custom fitted to the block.

At $595 for the bare manifold...you would think they would bolt right on....

I just don't see anyone running a single 4 on a Desoto Hemi. As expensive as they are to build, and I know because I'm in the machine shop stage of one, why not run 3 or 4 deuces? A single 4 takes some of the cool away from a way cool engine. I guess if one were running a Desoto in a hooded car like the engine came out of, but I see these engines being built for '30-'32 coupes and roadsters without hoods.

Or you could put one of those 2x2 adapters on it....They make a 3x2 one as well.

I looked at the website, guess I missed their 3x2 setup. Or is their's the one that runs no valley cover? I remember seeing someone's 3x2 setup like a more modern intake(sealed intake) without a valley cover.

No...I'm talking about the little adapters that bolt to a 4 barrel intake, and allow you to run two, two-barrels, or three, two barrels.

Vintage Speed sells a 2x2 one...And I've seen 3x2 ones on Ebay, but can't remember who makes them.

Iv'e got 2 2x2's. One is a tardel that bolts to the stock 2bbl to run 2 94's and one that bolts to a 4bbl. I got mine from Dickster (its simular to the vintage speed one)....

  13. The Eelco 6x2 is the best multi carb non u fab intake out there for the tall deck Desoto.

Right now Im toying b/w a 6-71x6 carb or an Eelco 6x2

The four barrel is certainly the "maintenance free" set-up. One 390 or 500 Holley or 500 Edelbrock would be perfect.

Nothing wrong with more eye candy but you can't argue with the practical aspect of a single four.

  16. No you cant argue with the simplicity....but, man, how BORING, a single 4bbl on an early Hemi.....stuff that !!

Not to mention that it just does'nt fill up the engine bay in an early ride...

I like the new intake 4bbl. Where they screwed up is casting on the top vintage v8s.com. desoto 276/291. Why would I want a ".com" cast into the top of an intake on my open compartment traditional roadster. Cast it on underneath but not on top.

  20. I'd grind them off, as well as the injection bosses on each runner, to make it look more traditional.

That has to be the MOST Un-Attractive Manifold i have ever seen for a Hemi.

Looks like a 318 LA intake.

One has to wonder if the dyno sees them as any more efficient than the modified stock manifolds that tr waters offers at alot less cost....
Are any of you die-hard DeSoto types planning a dyno run ??
