If my daughter does not make it to state in wrestling I will be there. If I do make it my car should be without the 90s hood scoop. A tunnel ram with 2 holleys will be replacing the hood scoop.

I bringing the coupe to show and setting up as a vender too. Would bring something to race too if I had it. Its going to be a GREAT show no matter what you bring or if you just bring your fat and/or lazy self. I fit one or the other catagories :)

The website for the race looks great! I looked but did not see any HA/GR class. Is there a chance that class will be added? Just curious.

We've tried to get the HA/GR's down here, but from the input I got back, that is close to the end of their 'rebuild season, and most aren't ready by then. We'd dig the crap outta those guys being here, but it ain't workin' out.

Can some one explain the class to me alittle better. I read on the Thaw site about the Bracket class, but dont quite understand .

    taken from Thaw web page:

    Bracket Class
(This class will race 'Index's with a 'Pro-Tree', or tree of their preference)
Run what-cha brung. Anything goes. Pick your index number, wait for your light to turn green, and go for it. Any engine modification / any tire. Does not have to be street driven.

(Blower/Turbo/Nitrous bumps you up to the next higher class)

All TTA classes are heads up, except for index

As my car is not street legal , i guess it would fall in this class? How do i pick an index? As i just built the car and have 1 run at the Hamb Drags last year i dont know much about indexing. and what is (tree of their preference) ? and what is TTA?

    Sorry for all the questions...Thanks.James

I don't know that your car being non-street legal will have anything to do with the class you're in.

To pick an index, you're just going to have to get out there and make some passes (during Friday night Test N Tune would be the best time for making "index test" passes) to see what kind of consistency you can get out of it and what kind of times it will run.

"Tree of their preference" is referring to either a Pro tree, which goes like this: Pre-Stage bulb comes on, Stage bulb comes on, All three yellow bulbs come on, then green.

    Or.....

A non-Pro tree will be: Pre-Stage bulb comes on, Stage bulb comes on, One yellow bulb comes on, then the next yellow, then the next yellow, then the green bulb and you're off.

I'm sure there's a better way to describe that, but that's all I've got.

    TTA is "Texas Timing Association".

Oh yeah, BUMP ! :) We can't wait ! We'll have the 4 door '55 out there making some passes with some new slicks ! ;)

    James,

Thanks for asking. The Torques are presenting the Texas Thaw, which is their signature event each year. The Texas Timing Association is the sanctioning body that is producing a series of races like the Thaw around the Texas area this year in the form of the TTA Nostalgia Circuit with partners in other areas such as the Torques are in North Texas.

The Texas Thaw will be the season opener. The circuit is still booking events later in the year that will lead up to the Season Finale back at Northstar in mid-November. The circuit will award points to winners of each race, and will allow cars to accumulate points with every win towards running for the TTA State Championship in their class at the Season Finale.

The traditional heads-up classes are for street-driven cars, equitably divided into categories based on general engine size, car weight, and the extent of modifications. The index class is for cars that are not street legal, or for drivers who do not want to run heads up.

Glad you're coming to run with us at the Torques' Texas Thaw.
