Do a search, this and similar things have come up before. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=225603&highlight=54+pontiac Unfortunately I dont think much at all changes over
It doesn't fit. Pontiacs have a 4 1/2 inch longer wheelbase, all in the front. You can't modify it, either, because the sides are angled different the entire length. I suppose if you took it apart (they're two pieces) you could cut it down so it would fit, then you'd have to weld something in where the center trim was. or you could just look a little harder for a Chevy hood. It shouldn't be that hard to find - and a '53 would also fit, although it may not match the grille lip.
Do a hood skin graph ?? Pontiac skin onto Chevy hood frame ? You could trim the back where it would be to long and that might work ?
This may sound offbase and not trying to sound like a smart ass. Could you just take the Poncho trim itself and mount it to your chevy hood? Or am I missing something?
there is about a half inch step in the hood where the trim sits. in 50 the overall shape of the hood is different too from chev to poncho
Yes it is inset.....the easiest thing would be to mount the Poncho trim to your hood and then take some round stock and place it along side the trim, weld it in place and mold it in. If you want to fool around and use stock Poncho trim you'll have to cut it down to fit your hood length or if you get crafty you can use the shorter Canadian hood trim! I have a bone stock '54 Ponch and can tell you that the frontend is way longer than the Chevy of the same year. Another thing to look at is the way the trim ends at the front.....'54 Ponch trim ends under an emblem and basicly needs the emblem to finish it off. Look at the other trim from '49 up to '54. I don't blame ya for looking at that big hood trim.....I love the looks of it also....and it really shines when polished. So much shine that it can blind ya in sunlight.
