I want: YOUR pictures of the original Deora!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Magnumcharger, Jan 22, 2009.

  1. Howdy,
I'm building a replica of the original Deora, and even though I've got lots of neat pictures of this fantastic creation, I'm always looking for more!
And in particular - I'm looking for YOUR photographs of this truck.
    As well...
I've got only two pictures of the Deora from when it was painted lime green...around 1969-70 era.
And I'm doing my replica up in that hue, so I need more reference photos!!
    Help!!

Taht is a cool creation. I had a model kit of it back when I was a kid and I always thought it was wicked . I will be watching one. You will be posting build picks right!!!!

If you haven't seen it, you might want to pick up Mad Fabricators Society Volume 3. It has a great interview with the alexander brothers about the deora, and a ton of build pictures of it as well.

I built a model of it, too. Sweet car/truck/concept/whatever. It's great.

You, uh, will be dropping a slant six mid-engine position, right?

You just might want to get with Doug Dutra out in California for the engine build. You could also get 'hold of him through slantsix.org.

  8. I took the model and used little red wagon decals for a killer hardbody slotcar dragracer

    Cool project

What was your motivation behind replicating the Deora? Seems like quite a bit of work my friend.

Attention to detail without having the vehicle present is unbelievable from pics and magazines... Can't wait for updates...

I totally understand why you would build a replica, not only of this but any famous car. Not all of us have the $$ to buy the original on the rare occasion it may come up for sale so why not build your own?
This is a very cool project! VERY COOL!

Awesome Build !!! Deora 's one of my favorite customs of all time. There's a great road test article in September '67 "Rod & Custom" and a detailed build article in may '67 "Drag Parts Illustrated". You probably have them, but if you don't PM and I'll copy them for you. Best of Luck !!! Vermin

    Thats awesome!!

  25. May I suggest using Hurst wheels instead of the ones in the pics with the redlines. Would give it a better Hotwheels feel. Kinda pricey though but worth it for the look. I like what your doing.

  26. Yes!! A replica build of the Deora and the Moonglow has been on my bucket list.

Cool truck for sure. Keep us posted on the build.
