It was so traditional that back in the day there were so many people hangin' their arms out the window and the salt from one's arm would take off the paint outside the window that there was an accessory made of stainless steel that went just outside the window sill to keep the salt from one's skin from eating the paint away .. Must have been pretty traditional don't ya think?

 

Yeh I do it too, so do my kids in the back seat. Both have to have thier arms out the window when we are cruising.

of course I do. I don't have a/c in my car and I live in socal so I need so way to stay cool.

 

So true. My 40 had the paint rubbed off of the door back in 81 when I painted it. It has since started to rub off again!

 

I knew a guy who lost his right arm. They'd been fishing. One of the guys retrived the arm and they put it in the ice in their cooler. Unfortunately by the time they gotr to a hospital it was no good. Hes was right handed too.

My 34 ford 5-window had the cowl vent delete . why anybody would do that is ? ? ? The fucking thing would get soooooo hot inside I almost threw up once. I usually run 260 air in my hotrods [2-windows down 60 miles per hour] Arm out the window feels good......Plus it made me feel like the cuyahoga kid ! ! AHHHHHAAAAAAA! ! !

Because I always have. And besides... it's a way to keep cool in the summer, since I don't have A/C!

Isuppose it just feels right, I do it all the time, I used to deliver parts and one summer I had a very nice tan on my left arm and nothing on my right. A good friend of mine would have his arm out the window while driving his demo car, elbow on the door holding onto the roof.

 

Geez, you guys are amateurs compared to me....
