not only did he take delivery of it, they drove it down the 101 freeway to his building via police escort. I have toured his facility 3 times and have seen the bus in the building. Pratte also has the concept car which he purchased the year before that is now sitting inside the bus.

I live less than one mile as the crow flies from his house and less than a half of a mile from his new building.

  4. ....but doesn't it get really hot there in the summertime?

It's hard to have a project car if you can't pay your mortgage:p

Personally I think the "market" has a long long way to go before it gains consumer confidence, if it ever does that is. Sadly, when you consider what some average people lost and try to imagine what the truely "well healed" had invested and also lost it's near frightening.

And yet the serious collector cars have dropped by say, well, almost nothing. Some of the big guys are putting their $$$$$ in these things long term. Tangible assets like gold or art. It has worked for decades.

Hey, shit I'm sorry, they're just way cool cars! That's the topic...

They cut the last car short last night. Was that a REAL '32 roadster? I checked the web site and it said that it was built in the 50's.... it only went for 27 grand.

Yeah, the steel '32 roadster looked like a steal for 27k. Even if it was a Brookville, which I didn't think so as some of the bodywork in the rear looked a bit rough, it was still a bargain. Of course, they called it a rat rod, and that probably didn't help.

That has got to be a scam, someone in the know wanted that car and it sold quick and cheap,It should have never been on at that day,I feel bad for whoever owned that one.I cant believe the one camaro without even a vin tag? what the hell are they selling cars that didnt even had vins,We would get strung up for that shit..

  13. I wonder if Pratt will spend like he has in the past. From what I read he's in the building business. We know that that deal has gone into the septic tank, along with my 201K.

Just wish I had the $dough$ I lost this past year to buy some more old V8 Fords. Unfortunately, the system is setup so the crooks on Wall St. get to play games at the average guys expense.

I remember in '88 the Black Monday on Wall St. Folks lost their ass in the stock market. Shortly there after the price of collector cars started climbing pretty fast.

Folks were afraid to invest in the market, so they started paying big $dough$ for cars. Those that still had money had to invest or hide someplace. I remember muscle cars ramped up, leveled off and then went down. The investors that got in on the tail end of the ramp got their asses burned. Many of those were the same folks that got hosed in the market (some poor bastards can't get a break).

So, with the current economy in the shitter, the guys with money will probably keep the prices fairly constant in the car market. AND, when you do sell a car (primarily a private, not auction sale) it's cash money!! If ya' do it right, that means NO taxes on that income, unlike drawing $dough$ outa' your 201K or IRA.

    It'll be an interesting weekend.

  14. it was'nt missing a VIN it was missing the tag with the code info color etc., at least that what I understood cause it was on the fire wall........and that roadster did go cheap however up close it looked kinda rough,I though it was a Shay replica at 1st when I looked at it,until I figured it was steel

I guess the motto here is buy what you like and enjoy it. There are not to many hobbies that have much return on your investment into it. So buy what you like, or the parts to build it and have fun doing it!!!

  16. In the words of the late Gray Baskerville "build it right and drive the snot out of it."

  17. so is anybody here tryin that fantasy bidding game they have going on??? if so how ya doing???

  18. most of the cars under the money the economy got to jakson too sounds like he is going to cry

  19. I'm thinking Mr. Jackson will soon be down on his knees begging for more money.
There are more "well bought" today than earlier this week.
uups...the Kaiser Darin just went for 160K +10%

  24. Thats exactly what i thought when they went across the block. Or, how about that poor bastard that bought the Cobra kit car that stalled out at 20g's thenthey talked it up to about 40,000. Did you see the fish eyes on the back, behind the seat area and rockers as the camera quickly past over them? What a POS. Bet the seller got drunk that night!

The one thing that I have noticed is that the big ticket cars just aren't going across the block this year.

There seem to be more mediocre cars, late-models and random ugly billet muscle car customs being sold. It must be hard for the guys with the low mile survivors and vintage rods/racers to justify selling their car at no reserve in this uncertain economy. I suspect it will take the economy getting better before more 6 digit cars get consigned.

  26. They said it did not have the Cowl tag, which is the trim, color, options codes plate. it would be screwed up to not have a VIN. Wouldnt want to see my DMV in that case!

  27. Yeah I have. Ain't done worth a shit. It's fer sure this wouldn't be my game. I thought that Chevy 150 would be like 65,000 and it went for around $150,000. S/N 00000002. Guess that was it. A 2/4bbl T-bird went for over a hundred and most of them are in the 40's. I did get within 2 grand on that one Healy though .. on the top side.. wrong side ..

for the most part BJ is nothin' more than a well tuned spectacle designed to sell a "lifestyle" to a bunch of fat guys in their fifties that couldn't fix a sandwich... it's like watching wrestling... entertaining, but you should take a shower afterwards... my 2c...
