    Dogs rule.

I think it says alot about the character of HAMBers that there are so many dog lovers here. And it says alot about the character of the HAMB that Ryan lets these semi-OT dog threads go.

No pics at the moment, but we've got a 7 year old Boxer mix and a 5 month old Mastiff pup.

lol,i've got an old tom that does that too, he sits on the car and won't get off, you can back down the driveway and he sits there, have to stop the car,get out,and remove him from the hood or roof.

    Looks like a Basenji girl.

Sadly my Basenji-mix girl from post #65 left us back in August and I can also only hope shes waiting for us up there...
I miss my girl so bad.
Please have her kidneys checked regularly. Most Basenjis have this hereditary disease and not many vets know about it.

Amazing dogs! Unique bread, like no other.

Scooter is 16 and rides about 4,000 miles a year in hot rods. Never complains in spite of the back problems that require a stroller used to limit her walking time while at car events.

Is that a Manx? or some cross w/ a lynx??? that's a pretty big kitty!

  20. Yeah, she is a Basenji.Supposed to be the first breed domesticated in Africa. Supposedly a barkless dog,but she definitely knows how to bark at squirrels. Thanks for the heads up on the kidney disease,I will ask the vet about his knowledge of it on her next visit.

If you ever want to truly know who your best friend is, lock your wife/girlfriend and your dog in the truck of the car for one hour. When you open the truck you will find out... ;)

    Yes, some Basenjis do bark.
My mix didn't have that recessive gene and she lelt every cat and squirrel that crossed her eyes know beyond any doubt.

Search online for 'fanconi syndrom' and take it very seriously.
There is no cure, but treatment can add years to an early diagnosed unfortunate one.
Best of luck and pass on the info to every Basenji 'owner' you meet...

When you are with any dog you often wonder who owns who .... haha

Back in the 60's, before self serve, I was at a gas station in Michigan where my friend worked. A guy came in with an early 50's Caddilac and said 'fill my horses ass up with gas'. We didn't think much about it but when we got out to the pumps, he had a small horse in the back seat area of the Cad. Also, I worked at an 'Old Dutch' gas station and this excentric older lady that was an artist would come in with a 28 Studebaker and she would have her goats in the car with her.[
