My first car was a 77 Chevy van... Had all the shag and crushed velvet one could want... Made payments on it and only paid $750... Those were the days....i loved that thing, and it was quite different than what everyone else was driving in highschool in 1993... Another one I had in 97 or so And the one I have presently....a 64 camper
Havent owned any but love the scenes in the movie Old School where they are doing burnouts and powersliding around in that black van. I think it had Cragars and sidepipes with a diamond side window.
I laid a burnout so thick after school one day that the bus drivers couldn't get my license plate # to bust me!
Crispy from cleveland ohio. this van best time 11.50 at thomson last summer. runs a stroker motor ! ! physo-deleriouse. he has had it since high school.
oh yea! the dodge is a 75 it is what got me into hot rods/hot rodding. i swapped in a 360 and i have all the parts for the 4 speed conversion. the ford is a 69 with a 170 3 on the tree. we took a 4000 mile trip to yellowstone last summer in it. they both have been to bike swaps. i got more pics of it and my two buds have 70s dodges too.

Actually, I do have a feeler post out there on the samba for it and may consider the right trade.... I don't need anybodies left nut though...HAHA!! I really love my bus, but it seems the longest I can ever keep a car is a year or two. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=703210 here's a TON of pics that aren't posted on the ad. http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z139/dubdojo/64_sundial/
The sad thing about van's from the 70's is nowadays if you pull up to a hot chick standing on the street corner and ask her if she wants a ride, she calls the cops on you. The media has pretty much told hot young ladys to stay away from vans with no windows or tinted windows... here in lies the question... so what's the point of owning one of these things nowadays!?!? Atleast back in the day you could actually score with one...
I want a van like the one in the movie "SLC Punk". I couldn't find a picture for those that haven't seen the movie. One day I will have my punk rock van.
I'm into the early (pre 67) Econolines. No shit, I spent some time living and surfing up and down the West Coast in a 66. Go check out some pics of the Salt Flats from the 60's, vans were the next best thing to a camper out there. Traditional? not in general, cool? I'm thinking yes. This is the one I own now.
My 66 A100. Bought new by Grandpa currently undergoing a 360 transplant. My buddy Ryan's 66 A100 project:
Geez where did I dig this one up from? Coming of 'age' in the mid 70's, (means looking to get laid, a lot) and being a surfer in So Cal, it was great to have friends with vans. I remember "Our Gang Vans" with friends that were members when I went to Paramount high. It came in very handy on Thursday nights at "Golden West Ballroom",,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,all you rockin cats that don't understand are going to faint, but at age 16 with a fake ID and the amount of 'chicks' that would show up to a popular but not-yet-famous band, 'Van Halen', admission 3.50, you would have been there too. I now cringe at the thought of the music, but the times were good.
im doing a repaint on a 72 startrek conversion it's got 6,000!!!!!!! miles but the old lac. pait is all hazed cracked. ill post pics soon the interior is discoriffic
Hell yeah! How can you not like old 60's vans. I had a few in the late 70's and a ton of great times (wink, wink) where had in them! Here is one I picked up last summer and plan a shag carpet interior and metalflake exterior in the near future!
