I can't find the gasser Thunderbird "Warbird" pic anywhere on here. I have seen it here before though.
Here are some pics-different lettering/numbers on the front fenders. Know nothing of it but with the venue and the engine and the hidden carb under the injection stacks I would say maybe this one is a tribute type effort. Never the less I still like it-Jim
That's a cleverly disguised SBC if I remember right. Check the header pipe spacing. Love the look though!
that is one bad ass m@therf%cker , i love old birds with that look to them, please tell me its not really a 350 disguised and is actually a 406 fe ?
that bird is the word! those forward opening hoods always trow me off... i was like, "hows the alternator spin mounted on the rear? OH thats right!".
SBC with the plug wires originating from the front of the engine ? Its possible I guess-Not likley but possible. Oldmics
Yeah, that engine has SBC spacing on the exhaust headers, and if you look real hard, you can see the induction is actually one of those goofy Garlits mechanical injection look covers over a 4bbl intake manifold. FE Fords have a distributor up front, too...while the plug wires all run forward, I don't see a distributor. However, there's a washer bottle right behind the intake, where a wiper motor would be. Why does he need a washer bottle with no wipers? It looks like its a cover for the distributor. With the Ford radiator fill can up front, there's no room for a distributor. There could be a crank-trigger distributor up there too...dunno. But it's absolutely NOT FE Ford exhaust port spacing, and it's absolutely NOT a Kinsler injector, as the sticker on the side of that big ugly cover indicates. Cool car, but why would the guy spend that much freakin' time and expense hiding a SBC, when he could just build a 390 Ford or something? -Brad
I know something does not look right and that is why I pointed out it has a carb under the fake injection. I also could not figure out how that was a big Ford. I agree with Brad as to why spend so much time on a small Chevy when a 406 would just really help make the car. I approve of the look but the mechanicals have me scratching my head-JIm
