  5. First job I had was at Nottingham Hardware, on Cleveland's east side. Was only 12yrs old, but learned how to use one of these machines very quick. Always loved the calenders, although not quite like this in the mid-70's.

these Petty girls with tools are the ones that Joe Bemis was basing his shots of my girlfriend off of. i posted them back on page 6, post 110. i'll spare posting them agin. They turned out awesome. The 'panty dropper' paintings are usually Art Frahm, though there were a couple of copy cats back then. Always found those a bit disturbing....i mean, how do they just fall off?

Since you asked, I assume that constructive comments are welcome.
I think that although the 'Leg Art' and lettering are great, the wheel (which is what it's all about) could be sharper.

  15. I hope it doesn't get shut down either but I wont be suprised if the last comment in here is something like "Don't you guys like cars anymore?" and then it gets locked.

I looked at all of them and they said Patty Girls but all of them I looked had appeared to have Vargas signatures....? I am confused.....

The Ridged tool adds made guys ridged that is why they stopped making them....tool was getting in the way of tools.

BiggMike, that's Petty :D There's an awesome book that's hard to find but i did manage to get a super cheap one at Borders, called The Great American Pin-Up book or something like that. it has chapters on Gil Elvgren, Petty, Vargas, Frahm, etc. Gives a history of all the artists and some of the more notable, like petty/vargas, has a LOT of paintings. it's a big ass book. Side note, i must say Elvgren is probably one of my favorites.

  20. I have the book right here. Here is isbn number so you can look it up on the web.

Have you looked at modern bras? They suck. As far as cheesecake goes, I'd love to be in a HAMB calendar, and classy traditional pinups are my favorite. :D

  25. Awesome thread, hope they don't drop it?

I am surprised no one has posted this photo yet. This is one of the most famous pin up pictures ever made. Thousands of GI's went to war with this one. I had this posted in our shop a few years ago on the inside of a locker. This was a major Aircraft facility with mostly guys. One night the femanazi from HR came around and demanded that it be removed or she would make sure someone lost their job over it. I couldn't believe it. This is a national treasure, a symbol of freedom, part of American history.
