one of my favorite drag cars, never did see it race, did anybody see it race? How about any pics of it racing, post them.Any other pics? post them.Where is it now? What happened to it since 1963?I want it!!!!!!!!
I remember the car, but never saw it run. I hope someone can find those shots with the body off. I never knew it had a Nailhead...even better!!
Gratiot Auto also had a '32, "shop truck", with a dual-quad, 4-speed, nailhead in it,...I don't know if it was used for the push truck for the 'Lil Billy car tho...my buddy has the truck's motor/trans...
I was told that the black Gratiot car is not the same as the orange Speed Sport Roadster. I will just say that they have a similar shape, similar nose, front suspension also looks similar, but the SS roadster is powered by a blown 392 Hemi. At least this is a few more pics of some cool T roadsters!
Gotgas, your are right, there is a whole bunch of similar items on both cars almost too much similarity to be coincidental. I wonder, being that, Lil Billy has not been located and the Speed Sport car has returned, are they one and the same? I looked at the Speed Sport/HAMB threads, some of the pics have been deleted and the info seems sketchy. Was there another thread about the Speed Sport car that, covers its return and resto?
I don't know for certain, but I believe the Speed Sport car has never left it's original owners hands. Maybe some of the Tucson boys can elaborate on this deal. Also, I believe the Speed Sport car predates the 'Lil Billy car by a couple of years as well.
And finally,.... the REAL story about Lil' Billy,.... or should I say "The Bear ?" Just click below,... History Gratiot Auto Supplys "Li'l Billy", a.k.a. "The Bear" The REAL Story!
