I'm getting ready to drill my block for the Crower lifters and I'm hoping that the little hole that is drilled in my lifter bore for regualr adjustable tappets won't affect the action of the little guides that are on the roller lifters. basically on some of the lifter bores I will have the guide for the rollers but there will be a hole in some of the guide channels from the old lifter adjustment holes.
Ohhh. If the adjuster hole is half-on, half-off the guide channel, the guide ball may want to catch or walk sideways a bit at that point. Doesn't sound good for you.
Why not tap the holes for a short piece of screw? Then red loctite, do the new work right through the metal of the screw. Maybe a Home Depot grade screw, so you know it isn't going to be real hard.
How about re-locating the guiding ball on the lifter? Move it 45 degrees? Then you could modify the drilling jig accordingly.
If I recall the Crower lifter balls aren't adjustable and are machined into the body. Can't turn them because of the roller. Bruce's idea sounds feasible. Sand smooth after work can't see what it wouldn't work.
I'll look at the jig again and see if the 180 swing is possible if not I will try Bruces idea, I'm also going to put a call to crower right now.
