"Dahm" that's cool... (you knew somebody was gonna do it) Neat that the SCTA logo can be tracked back to a particular car. Must have been quite an honor! Seeing those old lakes/salt sleds always gets me wondering, has anyone ever tried a "roll up" windshield?
its defonitely one of the best 27's of all time, i dont know how many times i've been looking at a book or magazine and see a car in the background that stands out....it end up being this one half the time! one of my favorites...they got it RIGHT!!
I came across this one in my quest to find any significant early 30's Chevy built for the lakes. While it's not a Chevy clearly, the '29 frame (chevy) was enough to quench my thirst for a while. This car is just perfect in every sense of the word.

Couldn't have said it better! I don't know if it's significant, but the S.C.T.A. logo car doesn't seem to have the "mustang" bubble on the hood(?).
I think this car is just tits. I tried to buy all the issues of HRM for 1950 on EGAY but every bid I made was immediately outbid, IN LIKE A FRIGGIN SECOND!!! WTF!!!! It got to $150 and I gave up. GRRRRRR. It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine.
I actually don't know if that is, in fact, the case... I do know that the car was labeled by the SCTA as the most "typical hot rod" in 1949. I'm not sure when the later "roadster" logo came out, but it would be one hell of a coincidence if this car didn't influence it.
One of the all time great lakes roadsters that doesn't get the recognition it deserves. I would love to know if it still exists. I did these a couple years back One day this will go on a shirt I have attached a colour pic i found somewhere on the net
Most of the time it's the one with the smooth clean lines no frills look that grab the most attention. It's like you try to look for the "attention grabber" when it's the entirity of the car that gets you.
Ryan ... D'oh ... I now see that you were posing a question: "It is the roadster from the later logo - right?" I guess exwestracer's post: ... had me jumping to conclusions. A very cool dry lakes roadster nonetheless ... so we might as well start the urban legend that the Dahm Brothers roadster is the inspiration for the car in the SCTA's (2nd) logo!
That is a beautiful car. Mr Mortens car has a similar look. Both have the hood extending back to the door area. Aesthetically it's too bad the roll bars have to be so large today. Both inspiration for this some-day project.
I sure LOVE that roadster . It`s JUST right in sooo many ways . I tried to make it a part of HAMB back in 2002 when we had that "LOGO & T-shirt" battle , But it was a No-Go . Here they are : Klaz
i just scored this one yesterday . it was inspired loosely by this DAHM bros. car and was a fairly well documented build on here until it stalled out ! i'm going to finish it up with a flatty and banjo to race at this years TROG !
