You can certainly get in & out the main gates to get stuff outta your car...just need a hand stamp & show your ticket when you return.

 

According to Gary Reed, the 15oz coupe will not be at Bako.

Phil, can you somehow tell us where to meet you, say at 11 or so Saturday?
Can you give us a location, flag, pit #, "next to the stripper pole" vendor, anything???
It would be good to get a central meet-up spot...

 

Doug, I don't know what my schedule is like Sat. I'm pushing, ya know. And I can no longer predict where they will park the Vipers this time. But, I'll be hanging at the Vipe's most of the time. I'm going to the Rattle Can Nats for my first time. There's where I'll be Thursday night.

I'm in Bako from Thursday....

 

Buncha guy with cars with old checked paint, primer and even a few finished cars. I've never gone before but the guy who used to put it on had rooms next to the Vipers and invited me. 5 or 6 years later, here I come.

 

There will be people at the kiwi konnection on thursday.

Got the invite for the Press Conference at 11am....but we won't be in town till 5 or 6

 

I'm looking for an alternative route coming into Bakersfield from AZ. I'm pulling over 7000lbs and want to avoid L.A. and the mountainous area south of Bako. Any ideas about coming in from the east?

 

That must have been nice on the rods and clutch. Great for the fans though!.

I'm trying to make it there. Not too much of a drive from the San Fernando Valley.

 

You want to come in on Hwy 58, through Tehachippi (sp). No need to come through L.A. Join up with Hwy 99 and on to Famoso.

 

Hey ya Jim, the route that we usually take from Phoenix to Bakersfield is I-10 west to San Bernardino and catch I-215 north, I-15 north, US 395 north, Hwy 58 west passed Edwards AFB, Mohave, Tehacapi and on into Bako.

This route bypasses LA completely. There are a couple of mountainous bits, a short but steep upgrade on the I-15 between Bernardino and Hesparia and a there is Tehacapi pass on Hwy 58 just west of Mohave. However, these two strethces combined are still not nearly a long or as high in elaevation as the stretch of I-5 between Magic Mountian and Grapevine.

 

my dad and his friends are going wednesday morning to sit in line since their all retired anyways and me and a few of my buddys are going up thursday night. This is definately my favorite event of the year. Hope to meet some of you hamb folk out there.

I just hung up from talking to my Viper Brother, Francois. He is sick as a dog and won't be making it ot Bako. So, the infamous Viper's BBQ will NOT be there. Leaving me with no place to heat up chili. Bummer...
