drop the rear end , find a bumper over rider for it, remove the current bumper guards, replace the bumpers with new, a simple set of full caps for the wheels with some 2 and 3/4 wide white walls. massage out any dents, fix any rust and nose and deck it. I love that rearend all smooth like ya know ! Keep the side trim , on these cars I think it helps the length when you dont chop it, oh yea by the way dont chop it what ever you do!!! paint it in a dark color ie maroon, maybe even a darker gold color.

Bag it. Wide whites. Rechrome. You might even try some custom-looking bumpers/grill.

Maroon sounds delicious. I would say lose the side chrome and bumper guards. Fill the hood...maybe a slight peak. Give it a very mild chop. Drop it. Add some thick whites on to tastefully stock wheels with a great dish hubcap. Oh yeah. Just my two.

appreciate it to all and your "just two" is exactly what im asking for so lemme have it! i bought it about two years ago since then ive installed new gas tank, fuel pump, lines, carb, brakes, u joints and had the head redone with new valves, guides and hardened seats the whole shebang.

thoughts on interior? under the hood?

Chop it, drop it, shave it, paint it, trash it and then start over again. I know a guy that can help.

Interior/just some "mohair"-style fabric done real subtle. You don't want anything out of control in there like metalflake vinyl...or at least I would't. To me that just doesn't go with something that early.

Engine/Hot Rod that 235!!! Offenhauser and Fenton still make plenty of goodies and they are still reasonably cheap. Those sixes sound awesome with dual exhaust. There is a guy in the Hamb-O-Dex that deals Offy stuff and he gives a great deal to Alliance Members.

More 2 cents. Now I have spent 4 cents on this thread!

Phase I (low budget): cut coils, lowering blocks, nose, deck, lose the side trim and the bumper guards, flush french headlights.
Phase II: Wide whites, full wheel covers, restored bumpers, split manifold, dual carbs.
Phase III: Paint, Roll and Pleat, and CRUISE!

I like the Coupes un-chopped too. Lower it, wide whites, custom grille.

Maybe build a BIG six for it, like a 292!

Got to drop that thing in the weeds

  22. Under the hood: Fenton headers, dual carbs, 10.5-1 pistons, racerbrown cam, and a good balance job. Upholstery won't matter if you do the stuff under the hood.

Ditch the sun visor at a swap meet. The lowrider guys will give you enough for it to but a split exhaust manifold and dual intake for your 235.

i say put a 58 olds rearend under the ass with re-arched springs, yank the 6, and drop in a nice healthy olds 303 rocket with a crashbox 4 speed, guy the interrior cept for mabey the front bench, and some hurt pie crust dirt slicks on the back.

    Did i mention straigh pipes?

    Even though you asked,
I'm probably gonna get flamed for this, so here goes:
CHOP IT. 3-4 inches. (I can't say I aspire to the 'coupes don't need it' group, but then again I like wide fenders on the 20's and 30's cars too, so to each their own)
DROP IT. 1.5 coil in front, 3" block out back.
    Take off the bumper guards.
Interior: 60's Thunderbird with the wrap around backseat.
    Then the usual stuff:
Wide whites, some nice caps, etc etc blah blah
Ya know where I'm goin with it...
Anyway, here's a Photochop I whipped up....Even personalized plates too.

    Cheers!

Chop it (almost all cars need chopped), loose the visor, drop it, wide whites, nose, deck, new chrome bumpers and a grille change.
