Friday nights are more high energy IMO because everyone is pumped for the show. Saturday is a bit more mellow after a very long day.

Like I said in the other post, everyone hangs out at the bar on Friday and in various hotel parking lots on Saturday, but I think a lot of that has to do with how crowded Fools would get. The Red Cent (new bar) however is MUCH bigger AND has a buffet and drink specials, are much more accompdating for our crowd, has more bathrooms, more parking, and we lined up some great bands, so hopefully everyone will come down, hang out at the Red Cent on Friday AND Saturday night like the old Pileup days... THEN go back to the hotel parking lots to hang out more. :D

At the Pileup or at the bar?
The Pileup is officially over at 6 on Saturday, but the aftershow party kicks off at the Red Cent. The first band there goes on at 9. The last band at the Pileup goes on at 2:30ish, and the VK's Ring of Fire starts at 3:30.

Anyone know who I should talk to about bringing one of my vid cameras to the event and parties?

I don't want to step on any toes.

Like the website says, the gates open at 9am sharp. The first band goes on at Noon. We try to keep to a pretty tight schedule. Yes, the Ring of Fire is a flame throwing demonstration/show. 99.9% of the cars are parked by noon.

Nope...just for me, and might throw some stuff on youtube. One person can't get enough footage for an event DVD.

Some shows have a no video rule because they make event DVD's.

i have over 8 hours of video from the first 6 pileups. as long as you don't plan to profit from it, i don't see a problem, but then, i tried that at wiggles and they still don't let me in with my camera.

Film away Rick. We don't have an official DVD. But there are people that come to make DVDs at the show. We just ask that they get in touch with us first. But thanks for asking first anyway. Super cool.

I think this year I have rearranged my schedule to be able to go. Does anyone have a room? Preferably on Friday night.

Hope to make it for the first time this year. What's the preferred route from SE WI to take? Any construction areas to avoid?

ALL of them. While things have gotten a lot better lately, there are still a lot of bad spot. Avoid 90-94 through Chicago. Try going around downtown on 294. The tolls will kill you, but at least you won't be in traffic.

If you're coming in early on Saturday, you have nothing to worry about. Friday WILL suck

Make your way to Lake Geneva and head south on 120. It turns into 47 after the state line and will run you right into the venue.

Thanks. I like the idea of the scenic route from Lake Geneva.

Let me know if you do. 120s my backyard. Maybe we could caravan.

Word to the wise: DO NOT speed through the small towns on RT 47. They WILL nail you.

I'll be dragging a couple of my car buds with me. Sadly, we'll be in the late model truck...
