That's a secret message decoder from the Major Astro Days. I sent my $0.49 off in 1965 and didn't get shit >>>>.
the tag on it, behind the right side of the reel, says SIGNAL CORPS and has some more info...that will probably tell you what it is. maybe you could take a close up pic of the tag, or at least post what it says. looks like a punched tape reader. neat stuff
early version of a tape recorder, recorded on wire before modern tape was around.crude but it worked sorta
That black box on the right is the lamp housing for the projector bulb... The film exited out the slot on the top to an external bracket (in the lid) where the take-up reel went. Its 16mm. Geez. Even this kid knows THAT !
yes it was, I got to clean out a garage today..lol how about a gas motor driven generator with junper cables attached, old school jumper box
The tape on the reel is paper with running black imprint like a mountan range, I just couldn't see the projector light showing that to be anything.
What is the nomenclature? (the funny numbers/letters on the SIGNAL CORPS tag) Looks like the light shines thru the tape, onto a detector tube. Since it has a black line instead of holes, it's probably an analog device.
Hey speedtool, were you watching the day he bumped his head coming through the door " before censorship "???>>>>.
the car jumper is pretty neat. someone with an old shop or gas station needs that. get it running, drag it through the deep snow (as it looks to be a low rider) restart it when you get to the car as a couple times it was upside down in the deep snow while dragging it there & it died. get the cables hooked up, sit in the car while it charges (probably not too long) fire that car up & move it so we can plow the lot! then drag er back into the shop. ---------
Dude you must not have clenaed your garage for a long ass time. You got any cars stashed in there??? >>>>.
Early lathe and milling machines ran this way. A black tape with a series of holes, dots, dashes, and so forth to tell the machine what to do,when to change the tool head, how much to cut,and so forth. These were the early cnc machines. Worked great until something went through the tape and gave a false reading. Then all hell broke loose >>>>.
