    Update:

BaronvonMike and I gave the old girl the once-over: Changed the oil, flushed the cooling system, packed the tools & tightened everything down. Did a test run, and found out I left the oil canister lid loose about a mile from home when oil puked all over the firewall and down to the exhaust! Ugh...

Got that buttoned up, washed the motor, and I think she is good to go in the morning...

  5. make it or not its gonna be a killer trip! good luck jay & mike.

Well-- We're back. Oakland to Wendover and home again. 1,300 miles, 1 tube of SPF 50 sunblock, 12 bottles of water, 4 quarts of oil, and countless gallons of gas later! :D

The old girl did real good-- There was some trans fluid smoking issue that turned out to be little more than an overfilled unit puking on the exhaust. Stop adding ATF and problem fixed!
We ran a little low on motor oil at one point, signaled by a noisy lifter, but again, just a fluid adjustment and we were down the road.

BaronvonMike deserves an Iron Butt award for riding shotgun for our 1 day, 610 mile trek home in the roadster. Sun up to sundown we burned up the road...

But, lets start at the beginning-->

  22. It was a blast to say the least!! My first time to Bonneville and it was the automotive trip of a life time. If you have not been to Bonneville, really try to make time for it. There's nothing like it.

I'll add a few more to this thread:

    My Bonneville pics are here:

Thats right! JIVE BOMBER was still BOMBING!!!

Oil pressure remained about 38 PSI going down the road-- She's tired, but I can't get that Caddy to die!~! :D

Saphorn headed back a day before us, and despite a broken motor mount, his RPU got him home in one piece!

Have you ever tried to sit in that car? Its a contortionist nightmare!!
