Oh, I think that's the least of our worries - since government after government has managed to completely destroy our automotive industry, if we ever get involved in a major conflict we now no longer have the manufacturing ability to build even a single tank!

Luckily, our best friend is really big and is ready for a fight with little (or no) provocation!

    ;)

depends on the fight. were de-industrializing just as fast as you are. if we had to face say 250,000 red chinese things would get scary fast.

I owned one back in the day. Had a 427 in it. We ran C/D, A/FD and A/FC in the '60s and '70s. Ran Tulsa LOTS along with other Div4 tracks. Of course, had push bar mounts under the bumper. Haven't owned it for decades though..........................

Ha, ha ! I love it!!!
I used to work as a mechanic at a VW dealer in the early '70's. In addition to changing the oil and lubrication, part of the lube mans' job was to check the tires, w/s washer fluid level and the battery. For those of you that don't know, the beetles' battery is under the back seat. We had a new lube guy and he was servicing his first Karmann Ghia. The Ghia's have the battery in the engine compartment rather than under the seat. He didn't know this. He picked up the rear seat and found two, that's right folks, count'em, two, large grocery bags full of dildos, condoms and various other assorted sex toys. To this day, I believe the Ghias' owner had to be a door to door dildo salesman.

  12. In the trunk of a VW Squareback I found a pair of hip waders with bloodstains around the crotch/penis area. Pretty ghastly.

My POS beater got stolen last year. I got the car for $300 originally and figured no biggie since it had ignition problems and I didnt want to waste time messing with it.

4 days later got a call that the car was recovered. I was pissed that I had to pay $125 to get it out of impound and the stereo was stolen. Dude left a crack pipe in center console and inspection of the trunk revealed a heavy duty rotary hammer, dewalt deck screwdriver and a couple of pneumatic chisels. Best part was whoever stole it fixed the ignition.:D

really, and i thought california was bad!

found a thumb tip size nug of weed in the cheap 70's aftermarket domelight housing in my sedan delivery. it was crispy, and of poor quality, but i was 16 so i smoked it anyway. also found labels from an old los angeles chicken farm, and lots of feathers under the floorboards in the back. musta been a makeshift chicken hauler at one point. and i cant forget the lifetime supply of bondo i found in the roof. wish there was a way to un-dry bondo

  17. I purchased a 50 fleetline about two years ago from a bandit biker guy. When I took off the rear seat to have it re done I found a rolled up good amount of weed.

So far the best I've had was when my dad and I purchased a mustang rolling chassis from a friend of mine in Florida. The lower rear seat was still in it and he was going to keep it so we pulled it and there was probably 100# of changed under it. The previous owner had worked at an arcade and apparently hauled the cash to the bank daily. I'm not sure how much there wound up being, but he was a friend of mine so we had his son help us gather it up and we gave it to the kid. He didn't get all of it picked up, so we still had around $50 in change floating around in the car when we cleaned it up for body work.

Found some sunglasses, a Toto cassette and a religious book in another Mustang.

In the 65 Falcon Sprint I had, I found the receipt where the 2nd owner bought it at a used car dealer in 1972. I also found an old photo booth type black and white picture of a rather attractive woman.

I always poke around cars in the junkyards too. The best was I was poking around this rolled early 90s Toyota pickup for parts and scrounging through the interior. Under piles of old magazines and clothes, there was a VHS tape. I took it home and it was a home made porno...and not a very good one. At another yard I was contemplating the seats in a mid 90s BMW and was checking them out. Underneath the drivers seat was a woman's vibrator. Maybe that's why it was wrecked :D

A friend of mine has a good story of junkyarding in the 80s. He was pulling a dash out of a Sunbird with a friend of his. The car was fairly fresh in there and was wrecked. There was an obvious 'head mark' on the passenger side of the windshield as well. As they are pulling it out, an EAR fell out of the defroster duct. The story goes they finish up, take the part to the jy counter and my friend asks "how much for the dash?" Guy gives him a price. Then "how much for the ear?" as he drops it on the counter. Counter guy says "take that and that and get out now"

  19. I know a guy who bought a beater S10 from a guy for $50, about 4 years ago, that had 310,000 miles on it. After he gets it home he finds a $50 bill, a $10, a $5, and like $10 in change in the ashtray, and on that tray under the dash the older ones (it was like a '91) have.

I bought a Hudson that had a bunch of '50s engine valve cover and head gaskets in the trunk along with about 4 old carbs. Sold one of the carbs for $10 in June. The gaskets look to be no good, they've been damp.

I was watching a guy clean out a van that his dad used for a Taxi and he found a .22 Beretta under the back seat. Wasn't his so, I bought it for $50.
I already posted that I found a chunk of meth and mess of pills in the master cylinder of an El Camino that I bought. I called the previous owner, he was happy to get his stash back, and I was happy to have it off my property.

i took a steering column out of a car in a junk yard and found a wooden nickel. Seriously, i still have it too.

Also when i bought an old chevy truck that was used in the mines i took it apart and found several welding rods and welding supplies behind the seat. Hence it was a welding truck in it's day.

only found rats nests in the headliner of the '55, a tape measure in the glove box of my pickup (i use it alot!!) and the trunk of the 55 had tons of spare parts in it, one thing in particluar was a 55 mass license plate with the numbers 76655. 7/66 is my mother's birthday, and 55, the year of the car. and now the plate is nowhere to be found!! kinda mysterious...
