Man that car reminds me of a 61 rag i had a few years back...Mine was bad, and ALL apart..and as much as i never thought i'd say this....that one was worse!!
I sold mine to a guy in Mi..I wanted to keep it, but too many other projects at hand and my interest in 61's isn't as strong as it needed to be for the type of build that was needed.
I'm VERY impressed with what he's done...inspiration to say the least!

 

My Dad always says anything can be fixed if you got the time and $$$$ of course...lol

 

I found out about that build a bit back on another forum and have been watching it. Impressive to say the least.

Damm thats alot of work, looks like most of the Scouts i have redone over the years not much of the org rig once done.

 

OK, I think he passed the audition. Any junkyardwars/monstergarage/overhaulin team would do well to have a guy with this skill set and ambition.

i here ya man... but hell, my dailys are considered parts cars to most!!!

 

One of our own HAMBers did this a few years ago. I saved the pics because one, i love 63 Impala's, and two...i was FLOORED by the workmanship!!

Wow talk about a turn around. I'm a big fan of the early 60's Impalas. My avatar shows my first rod. 1962, 327/powerglide. I miss that car.

 

I'll give this guy credit for going through all the work, and I fully understand you got to work with what you got, but........ DAMN!!!

 

I too saw this build on that thread from another site. Insane. Makes my project look like peanuts.

Just goes to show you, that with some know-how, time and $$$, anything can be saved, no matter how rotted out and destroyed it my appear on the onset. Of course, when he's done, 85% of the car will have been patched up...but, man, what a story! If it wasn't for the pictures, who would have ever guessed that that car was a ditch car at one point?! Unreal.

Hahaha...Skim the man...You should see his Volkswagons. This kat is a very talented individual and rules the rails!!..A true 'artist' on all levels!!

I 2nd what he said. Skim is the man. Check out TheSamba.com for some of his Vdub projects. The are very impressive but the Impala iss by far, the most impressive.

Not only an incredible, time-consuming amount of work, but to document it with such extensive photos would take a significant amount of time and effort also.

I just spent the last hour looking at that build, amazing ambition.

 

It's not entirely uncommon for guys to build a ragtop piecemeal in the same manner. A rotty ragtop and a solid 2dr hardtop or coupe become one. But you have to go frame-off, add the convert braces to the frame, then put the coupe body back on, take it to the floors and start from there up. A hell of a lot of work. With a Chevy it's a little easier, a lot of repro parts are available for them. That's why I save any convert I find, even if it's in pieces.
