"Best Appearing Crew award, presented by Car Craft Magazine, was awarded to crew of B.V. Langley's "Scorpion" dragster, Everman, Texas; all clad in red and black." - Hot Rod Magazine (December, 1957) I stumbled across the above this morning and it ...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
I plan to wear my Scorpion swag on Saturday Aug 23rd at the HAMB Drags. Been my favorite t-shirt to wear this summer. Day of the Drags 2007 Lonestar RoundUp 2008
There are some people who are on the fence about the HAMB Drags because they're too far away, or their car isn't ready, or there's another event closer to home. Don't think too much, just go. It's an amazing event. I'm going to miss this year and I'm bummed.
Those guys put on a fine show w/ those cars (1 & 5)! Folks get up on their feet when these guys roll up. And a fine bunch of guys they are too. I can't WAIT! Lets GO!!!
The St. Louis crew are planning on winning the best dressed award at the HAMB drags this year, evey other team should prepare to LOSE. We have leather thongs and pink tanks tops, tied in a knot so you can see our navels, of course.
Speaking of DRAGSTERS. Anyone heard from KING CHASSIS/Brian I think his name is? Just wondering if he is gonna grace us with his presence again this year. Someone get that man a wheelie bar & some fuel!!!
Ryan,I have personally enjoyed being with the Scorpion cars the past two years at the Roundup...Thanks for posting....Bobby himself enjoyed it as well..........Thanks to Steve Wertheimer for the invites.........
I remember Bobby Langley and his Scorpion Dragster during 1958-60 when he would come down to the Freeway Dragstrip in Dickinson, Texas. Seems like he was always pitted up against "Big Daddy" Don Garlits in those days or maybe some name from the West Coast. This was after he went with a blower. He was always a very big favorite. Beautiful Dragster with the full body and the Scorpion Pin stripping. We ran a club dragster at the time. We might as well have left it on the trailer when they were around because we were running a nitro burning, Stromberg 97 carburated Mercury flathead. We do still have a picture somewhere in our club history showing our dragster with a full wheel off the line against Garlits. You didn't want to see the next frame. But hey! It was all fun....Tom
Ryan: Thanks for posting the NHRA photo of Scorpion 1. The man with his hands on the engine is my late partner, Bill Collins. He is the smiling driver from about two years ago at Mokan. I am glad every body is enjoying the cars as much as we are. I should have some new shirts ready in black or red as you said. dwrfab Don Ross
Is this also Mr. Collins, nearly 50 years later? (I took this photo at the 2006 HAMB Drags, 08/26/06)
