The Bean Bandits Racing Team is hosting a BBQ to help us get to Bonneville Speedweek. We are asking for donations to help pay for our annual pilgrimage to the salt. In exchange, we'll supply the food and good times.

The bandits is one of the oldest racing clubs in existence. Started in 1949 and still racing and setting records. This year, we've resurrected one of the original bean bandit streamliners. It's been rebuilt/retrofitted and has a couple of El Mirage runs under it's belt. Power is provided by a blown flathead model A banger, and we're bringing along an injected 302 sbc as well.

This Saturday, August 2nd. 3pm til?

    Vintage Hammer Garage
    32242 Avenue D
    Yucaipa, Ca 92399

    BYOB

In addition to the streamliner, we will also have a couple of historic bean bandit racecars on display.

Theres plenty of parking, so bring out your hot rod or kustom and join in the fun.

For anyone that can't make it to our BBQ, but still would like to contribute. There's Bean Bandit support t-shirts for sale in the classifieds!

Yes, we will have t-shirts available on the salt. Look for our pit area under the big red HOP UP balloon.

Good, you’ll be pitting next to Morty. One of the guys in our group usually lets him use his big easy up. Will see ya there.

Yes it is the same motor. The intake and exhaust have been reconfigured to fit in the streamliner though.

We ran this motor in the rear engine roadster last year too. Went 116 at bonneville.

The liner went 119 at El Mirage in May for a shakedown pass with the banger in it. Not bad for a stock bottom end on the ol' A motor. We're expecting it to run pretty good at Speedweek. Or blow up, whichever comes first.

  12. Tom,

    That is so cool.
Me and my father are building a blown & injected banger for a front engine dragster that we are doing.

That sounds awesome! What type of injection are you running? I'd like to hear more about your setup.

  16. Glad to see the "young Bandits" honoring their past!

Perhaps for the 65th you guys could resurrect this car?:

... albeit to 2013 SCTA/BNI safety standards ... don't think the single hoop roll bar would pass inspection :D

Don't want to take anything for granted. Will you have t-shirts at the BBQ? I plan on going and buying a few.

Thanks for driving out! It was cool catching up with you and Lucky. I'll be looking forward to seeing how your new setup runs.

We'll see you in a couple of weeks Dan. Don't forget to save some cold ones for me.
