It's been a long time coming and a ton of work, but it's finally here. The new H.A.M.B. features a ton of new features and a whole new look. As we are just launching this version, there is bound to be a few bugs and problems, but hang in there with us as we work them out! What's new? 1. User Profiles This is probably the largest new feature that we added. With the new user profile pages, you can now host your own photo galleries, leave public messages for users, join and form social groups (more on that later), and form "friends" similar to myspace. Admittedly, the "friends" functionality is a little juvenile, but I decided to run with it as it could have pretty cool effects later in the game. To see some of these features in action, check out my personal profile. 2. Social Groups This feature is not quite complete yet, but it's far enough along to get folks going on it. Essentially, groups are profile pages for a group of people with a common interest. A good example would be a car club. Clubs can create their own groups, invite their members, and completely control their group page content with galleries, messages, etc... Again, this feature will be pretty incredible once it's fully blown out. Until then, it's just kind of cool. You can see the Alliance Vendor group (in its infancy as I haven't had time to invite all the vendors yet) here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=1 3. Thread Prefixes. I love this feature, but it is going to take some time before we see the fruits of our labor. Essentially, you can now label your threads in a number of different categories: Hot Rods Customs Technical Event Coverage Art & Inspiration Folks of Interest History Motion Pictures Once labeled, users can then select (scroll down to the bottom of the forum page) to view only posts in those categories. Absolutely great for fellas that only come here to read about customs... or hot rods... or history... etc... 4. Inline Images You can now post images inline with your posts instead of just at the bottom of the post. To do so, simply click on the paperclip icon () when creating a post. The upload window will popup and you will be allowed to upload images. Once done, close the window. Now, whenever you want to place an image in your content, simply click the arrow () located next to the paperclip icon and choose the image you want to appear in the content. Obviously, there are quite a few more new features in this release but I think the above are the biggest. In time, I'll try to get tutorials done on how to use all of them... until then, check out the FAQ if you have questions. And again, please excuse any bugs or problems you run upon. We are still actively working on things. In fact, the forums might be a tad slow for a day or two until we get things optimized. Thanks and enjoy!
dig the changes. LOVE the new vendor profile page. It'll be a ton easier (hopefully) to check on who's a vendor and what they sell...
I like the way attachments work. But, on the list of threads, everything sort of blends together. Maybe it's just me, but my eyes get tired very quickly trying to read everything. However, I appreciate the hard work you put into the site.
Very nice changes. I freaked out when the site didn't work this morning. I hit it right before the customizing message came up.
Holy Shit!! I'm going to have to learn how to type looking through my welding goggles-this new shit is VERY BRIGHT>>>>.
KOOL!!! This adds entertainment far beyond the spirited debates that go on when ever somebody tries to open a discussion about VWs or Jeeps. (I happen to like them but this isn't the place for that, now is it?) (GO HOT RODS . . . "WOO-HOO!!!")
