as of last night, i had most of the cuts made,,,,i left it attached at the door posts, the cowl and the lower decklid so i could make sure everything lined up before i dropped her,,,,

the original plan was for a friend of mine to come by and help me drop the body down after i made the final cuts.......

well,,i just couldnt wait, so i set up a floor jack in the trunk, a pallet, some 2X4s and did it myself,,,,,,everything lined up perfectly,,,i couldnt ask for a better fit,,,,,,
im completely thrilled as i have never attempted something like this before,,,,,,

the section completely MAKES the car,,I LOVE it,,,,,,,,,

i will have the doors and fenders done by the end of the weekend,,

LOTS of welding ahead,,but it'll be so worth it,,,

here are some pics,,,,,,(some are a little dark,,sorry).....

Nice job, Jim. It looks perfect.
IMHO, that's just what it needed.
The way you're moving on this, we better see an update tomorrow...please.

Dammmmm I love that car.....it just gets better!!

  9. Wow! I does just keep getting better.

  10. You do some quality work............. at the speed of light! Nice job. I'm still not feeling the fins though. Now with the section, I think they're even more outta place. Too high maybe?
What if they were trimmed to about 1/2 their height?
Sounds like Im being critical. I dont mean to be. Its just that everything youre doing is taking the car lower, and the fins are looking more and more out of place to my eye.

    Jim,
You get it done man! That car is awesome. I think the fins, the headlights, the chop, and the section are all spot on. I wouldn't change a thing. Of course, now it needs a monster flake or pearl (or both!) paint job!

It's like when you are dating a chick and everyone asks when you are gonna get engaged, and then they pester you about when you are getting married, and then when you are gonna have kids... It's like whatever you do is not enough! This one is just a $10k paint job and another $10k worth of full kustom interior away... hehe...

It's a bitch ain't it? I love it man. You rocked it.

Jim, Great job. It is amazing how little time it took you to do this. Its in your heart - your passion. Now when did you start to paint my bathroom ?? 2006 ?

I'll make you a deal. I'll do all the filler work and paint on your car and you can subframe, bag, and chop my car. You make me really wanna get off my ass and get goin on it. Bastard.. More power to ya.

  15. That is one awesome job. Leave the fins alone. This must be a record time to sectiion a car. Plus your precision is remarkable. Did you have much help?

cool, its not as bad as it looks, you just have to dive in a cut away, like i did too! and then be ready to weld your but off!

i got my doors done and one fender on my 50 coupe and havent gotten back to it lately.

    have fun, looks good.

are your gonna section the same amount out of the grille opening as the rest of the car? im gonna take out les but havent figured out how much yet.

jeff,,i gotta tell you,,,your sectioning post inspired me big time,,,,
i really felt like i could do it after i saw you do yours..
id like to take less out of my grille shell also, but my section is only two inches, so even if i took out the full two, it'd probably still look ok

This car keeps getting cooler and cooler. You get more done in a day than I get done in a week, or two. Keep up the good work.

I took the bathroom part out - but you saw it first so its back. You know I support you 110% on the cars. You love them- they are important to you and you have taught me so much about them ,I can see what can be in a car that a few years ago I would have thought should just go to a junkyard. Now I want to go to the junkyard to see what we can find !!! And my Hudson will be awesome ( and so will my 32 Ford when I get one) just look at all the practice you are getting !! We can work on it together (after you make sure all the bugs are out of it. )I'm getting good at bondo and if I decide to chop it, I make the first cut.

    looks great !
the cutting is the easy part, it`s the putting it all back together that takes the time.
sometimes it takes less time to do it by yourself .
scissor jacks make the best helpers , and they don't drink all your beer
