    With the help of my family & friends.....yesterday, I was able to unveil to my dad, his dad's 1929 Model A Coupe, that hadn't seen the streets in over 40 years!! I can say this, was in fact, the best fathers day ever!!

    The Story: My grandfather, Joe Burke, bought the Coupe back in June of 1966. From what I gather, plans were to make a Hot Rod/Show Rod, but keep the 4-Banger. The car was complete & stock when he bought it. Mostly everything on the car was chromed (even the rear-axle), and the seats were re-upholsterd. It even was updated to 40 Ford Juice Brakes.
    My grandfather passed away in 1968. My dad was 14....I obviously wasn't born yet.
    The car went untouched for many years afterwards. My dad started to work on it, but time, a family, etc... prevented any real effort. I was given the Coupe a few years back. And after my dad's heart bypass surgery in 2007, I decided it was really time to get the old Coupe going. With the help of my father-in-law Dale Taylor (of Taylor Street Rods www.taylorstreetrods.com ), we were able to get the car drivable as a surprise to my dad for fathers day......and as a tribute to my grandfather. Needless to say, my dad was very surprised. I took him for a ride down the street....and this is why it was the best fathers day ever!!

    So I'd like to take the time to thank all who were involved. Especially everyone here on the HAMB that helped my with all my questions.
    -Jeremy

    The Car:
    * 1929 Ford Model A 'Special Coupe'
    * 1958 348 Chevy Engine
    * 700R4 Auto Trans
    * 9" Ford Rear-End

    I tried to use as much of the original parts from the car as I could. Getting parts re-chromed if need be. Using all the original fenders, aprons and I re-built the running boards. The seats are the original 60's upholstery!!
    Another great thing is we have the original pink slip from 1966 that's in my grandfathers name (including a brand new set of matching black/yellow license plates that go with the pink slip that were never used), and the original ad out of the newspaper that my grandfather cut out.
    The original receipt the guy he bought it off of says he paid $350 for it!!

    Please check out this link for more pics & video of the car (note: the 2nd video has no sound). http://www.taylorstreetrods.com/currentprojects/1929fordmodelacoupe.html

    Very cool Dude! You have to scan in the newspaper ad for the car to show everyone. Who in the world keeps the newspaper ad???

  9. Very cool of you... any other pics of the car from back in the day until now you can share with us? It's pretty special when a car can stay in the same family for so long.

    also... I'm callin' dibs on that '32 roadster in the left column of the newspaper clipping... he's only asking $1050 o.b.o and I have a grand just burning a hole in my pocket... what's the area code? :D

    My dad had told me that he took pictures of the car when his dad first brought it home. My grandmother still lives in that same house, so I looked all over it trying to dig up those old black & white photo's. No luck. But I haven't given up just yet......

    That '32 might be a little pricey for me, I'll have to stick to the '55 Chevy for $350. SHEEEEEESH!!!

    You talking about this T......the one we bought off of Bad Bob??? Sean and I have been 'talking' about ideas, budget etc...see how we want to build it.
    I'm thinking after building the A, the T should be a slam dunk!!
    I'm looking forward to starting the build with Sean.

    What a find!!! Was down my grandmothers today and we stumbled on this old picture of the Coupe!! My dad said he took this pic the day his dad brought it home. My grandmother still lives in that same house where the Coupe is sitting in the driveway...
    We're assuming the picture was taken in June of 1966.
