Quarter Elliptical Front Ends-I need pictures!!!

I am thinking about using quarter ellipticals on my truck. If anyone has any pictures of some quarter elliptical set-ups, I'd love to see them.. thanks!

 

This a little modified that I think is on Whidbey Island Wa

I saw it at the Run to Roslyn three years ago








It is a pretty straightforward and simple car.

In this case, the springs are the lower links in a four bar set up.

 

Worked for me now.
Is there no need for a panhard/track bar in this set up?

In my opinion the one in the first picture should not function very well. The radius rods locate the axle but the spring should be mounted on a shackel,instead it's mounted solid and have different points trying to all hold an a different arc means something will have to give
I used a 57 chevy rear springs ,light long half on the lighter rear ,shorter stiffer half on the front,reinforced the bottom of the frame rail. two bolts through,upper link made out of tube,( if I did it again I would make them rubber bushed)
No locator needed

The first ones suck, they were taken with a cell phone..

That last shows a Big Clunky shock mount.. I DID NOT DO THIS.. DON"T do it this way..

Do it the way I was gonna do it.. Run Speedway motors friction shocks on the inside of each rail in between the springs, out to the axle..

This was Harry Miller's way of doing it..

This is one we're currently doing.

 

Here's ours:

 

It will work the same as a 4-bar.No problem.

If you have hair pins or a 4-bar,AND 1/4 elliptic springs,
then you will need shackles.

 

Sorry i wasn't clear ,I meant the pic in the first post would not function right ,mine does very well.

 

Here's a full cantilever for you I snapped at a show over here. Probably softer than quarter elliptics.

 

Nice fab work! I agree on the shocks; too modern and the mounts detract from the clean flowing look.

 

I have a 24 Cheby roadster buried out in my junk pile that has 1/4 elips on all 4 corners. They angled the springs outward 2-3 inches from the frame on that car. Any triangulation is good for lateral stability and strength, imo.
