if one of you photoshop artists could spare the time, im curious how my shoebox would look sectioned 2 1/2'-3" max....the chop is not radical and i feel that a 4-5 inche section would just be too much..............the rear wheels will have skirts (not radiused),,,,,,,,thanks for your time,,,,,one day i will finish learning photoshop and join in on the fun,,,,,,,,
HERE YOU GO...QUICK AND DIRTY, I DONT KNOW, i WAS NEVER A FAN OF SECTIONED SHOEBOXES, BUT YOU HAVEN'T LET US DOWN SO FAR! Maybe a slight section job would look cool?
You WON'T ACHIEVE NIRVANA unless you section this car! It's like a river to the sea, its ultimate natural conclusion. I still see it in Raspberry.
I don't think that the section will take away from the chop at all. Shoeboxes really have a lot of slab in those sides and the section makes it much sleeker.
those big slab sides is one of the things that has always appealed to me about a chopped shoebox. like I said its just my opinion. Sam
I was going to section my '49 2" and thought "What the Hell, let's go 3"" Boy was that a mistake! 2"- 2 1/2 " is perfect and avoids a lot of problems. That extra inch made for Double the work! Charlie
Thought I would take a quick stab at this since it's far more interesting than work... Tough to be exact in Photoshop, but it was sectioned about the height of the sidesplit for the taillights, and dropped about the same amount. I took the liberty of adding a little color -- too damned difficult to see what is going on when it's a million colors.
yeah remember this car was a mild and simple custom.... hahahaha now youve gone fucking nuts !!!!! good luck jimmy.
Jim, a section on that car would be pretty bad ass. BUt i think either way you go it will look good. A section job doesnt add too much to it, but not sectioning it doesnt take a way from it at all. Its lookin sweet to by the way.
Me on the phone with Jim awhile back. Me. "Oh you got a new coupe eh?" Jim. "Yeah just going to fix a few bugs and daily drive it. Nothing special." Me. "Cool" Hahaha. So much for that!
Who are these guys kidding???? Don't listen to those ney sayers, Jim. You're so far into it now, what's "a little" more work...go for it. To me, sectioning it would just pull the profile more in line with all the other stuff you've done!! I love where this project of your's has gone...
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks VERY much everybody.. it does look pretty damn good i think,,, two inches ought to be just about right because the car does not have a radical chop.... funny, i never really liked sectioned cars all that much,,, until now..hhahah
Jim, It was a pleasure to meet and talk to you at Gettysburg ! As we discussed a 2" section would do the job and 3" would work also , but anything more would be pushing it too far for what you want ! A 2 1/2" section could be a good compromise ! My 49 Dodge is sectioned 3" and my under construction 51 Merc is sectioned 2 1/2" ! Good Luck, Sonny
Sonny,,it was great to meet and talk to you as well...i remember the first time i saw your car about ten years ago,,,i was amazed at all the work that you did,,,it's a real beauty from all angles,,,,,,,didnt know you were building a merc...cant wait to see it,,,gettysburg '09 maybe?? i think if i end up doing it, im gonna go for 2".... i'll probably be giving you a call for some advice,,,
