Some of you may have read or seen some posts from either me or my brother (jbon64), we are on the crew of the Dunn & Gone Nova funny car that won the Indy Goodguys funny car class. First round we beat Rocky Perrone running an off the trailer 7.369 to Rocky's losing 7.57. next round we were up against Kyle Wurtzel's 72 Vega, this would prove to be the closest race of the day, we ran 6.391 to Kyle's losing 6.404. For the final we faced Steve Nichols in the Mill Road Boys Camaro. We won running 6.290 against Nichols losing 8.009. Below are some pics from the event. Congrats on the win. If you remember we had a PM conversation awhile back and you invited me to stop by and see your operation at Indy. Things didn't work out for me to be there and I missed a good time as your post confirms. BTW, did Hal Canode show up this year? If you remember our conversation was a result of your mention of him on a HAMB thread. Again, well done. Frank
Congrats to you and your crew!!! To win ANYTHING at Indy and OPR is a HUGE feat......you should be very proud!!!!!
No, I didn't see Hal anywhere this year, I would guess the rain keep a lot of people home. Too bad we didn't get to meet up, but maybe next year. It was a great win for us as we are a pretty low buck operation and the team we faced in the final probably has a 1 million dollar trailer and tow rig. Just goes to show money can't always do it.
We will be running Bowling Green for the Goodguys in October (I think that is when it is), but the funny cars got nixed for the Hot Rod reunion. Justin Grant with the remake of the Don Shumaker Wonder Wagon will be making an exibition pass there though. If you come for the Goodguys event, stop by and introduce your self, it's always good to put faces to names.
I don't really have any other action shots, I am always busy when the car runs. But here are some shots that I do have. We do run it as a Fuel Altered too, this is a 37 Chevy coupe legends body. Here's a shot I have posted on here before, this is the first time we fired the car this year, it looked like rain so we fired it up inside the shop, check the yellow nitro haze. We are also prepping a Dodge Demon body for it, this is the body after we mounted it, we still don't have it painted yet.
Kenny, Really happy for you and John. I would like to have been there for that and had planned to be but my neck of the woods was under water Saturday and I decided time was better spent hauling my project to the next painter on Sunday. Just how deep was the mud in the parking area? Congrats to all of you...though I have not met your brother I still owe him for the bricks. Maybe I can make Bowling Green. Say hi to John.
Congrats! When are you guys usually out in the garage? I keep wanting to stop by, but I am kind of lazy. ha ha ha
