i apologize to those that are sick of seeing progress pics of my car,,,but whenever i post some, i always get all kinds of useful feedback from you guys...it gets me thinking about ideas i had not considered,,

mocked up a new trim idea,,,kinda reminiscent of 56 ford trim,,but i will make it from some 1/2" half oval stock and have it plated..i feel like it gives the car some needed length (lowering it more will do the rest of the job).....and if i two tone the paint,,it will be a nice place to seperate the colors

mocked up 60 chevy wheelwell basically by taping a skirt to the quarter,,,i,like it because the shape of the wheelwell/skirt is very similar to the shape of the new trim idea.....

the hood and trunk will be getting pancaked (see tape lines on pics)..

decided to use spiders on the wheels,,,maybe with the little trim rings wheelkid sells,,,,

anyone have some ideas for paint?...(2 tone or otherwise?)...i have a few ideas in mind, but just curious to see what colors you guys think would work,,,

i plan on some late nights this weekend,,gotta start making more progress on the welding,,,,,supposed to be a heatwave happening, so ill have to see how long i can last........

Thats what I've been thinking1?!?!!???

I don't think a 2 tone works here Jim. I can't quite figure what does though. Maybe use the trim to panel slightly or for some subtle scallops??

You are like Bill Hines' east coast cousin...

Honestly, the car is probably not for everybody, but who gives a shit. I dig it.

with the " wings" on back and how you masked it , it looks like your shooting for a 56 chevy.

LOL your going the wrong way..

I think someone said that your car is not for everyone and its not the work you have done but that car is not for me.My opinion does not matter though. you should make some molding that goes over the mask area you have to break the two up, it would look right with the body lines you have. would not be to hard to make from alunimum. Dont worry about posting update pics , we all like pics.

Good luck with your build , your work looks good , stay at it.

Ohh and i wouldnt cary the two tone over the hood or across the front .. just die it into the headlights , that would look more clean i think ... just thinking out loud.

    hey,

Alittle metal here, alittle filler there, squint your eyes thus....ta da-
    a '36!

I'm seeing a try-colour selection to go with all the trick moulding &
body mods. It's as if Bob Walker at Ford, in'57, said "lets out 'bling'-
    GM"
What are your plans for the area below the deck lid? With the deck
lid opening raised, this area will be kinda 'bluff-like'. Maybe the add-
ition of some trim above the Kaiser guard, or some 'trick' sculptur-
ing in this area? Maybe some horizontal bumper guard-filler pieces,
smaller than '55 Pontiac guards would fly?
I really like the 'kick' in the quarter trim, it adds length and accent
to the slab of the shoe box sides, and ties the fin in well.
PLEASE....don't tell me this thing is gettin' bags & a SBC!!

these are the kind of posts that belong on the hamb...if your looking for opinions, i dont like the 60 chevy wheel wells, my opinion on the wheel wells goes towards needle nose bubbles, or radiused. sidetrim, im not sure of my opinion...probably my favorite current shoebox buildup

Ok, Ya gotta keep reminding us that we should get back on the car (truck) projects.

Always an interesting moment when we open your latest post and that damned thing is starting to grow on me. Now if I could just get that Batman theme to quit running through my head.

Along time ago at an old Indy indoor show there was Chevy
that was painted a light color with rocker panels painted
semi gloss black. From a distance it looked like it was sectioned.
Your car might look good with this section paint trick.

I think it needs some larry Watson style paint on it. Mixed in with some of his crazy scallops.

I like the side trim idea, I used actual '56 Ford trim on my '53 because I like the two tone so much. Take a look at '55 Dodge Custom Royal side trim, it might work perfectly on this car (although it's kinda hard to find) It's very similar to what you have taped out.

I liked the long bubble skirts the best, but maybe that's just me.

WOW!!..you are right,,that trim is really close,,,,definitely could make that work i think,,,its not too thick either (which the 56 ford trim would be for my car),,,
that would really save me some work,,,IF i'm able to find a set....thanks squablow...

    3 tone it!
Black on the bottom [or maybe black cherry]
Red in the middle [lipstick or porsche]
And white or cream on the roof.
