been really busy with work at the shop and haven't had as much time as i'd like to work on the shoebox,,(gotta pay the bills first though, huh?)....i almost have the roof welded up,,,probably two more hours and she'll be done,,,,very tedious work,,,but important,,,taking my time to minimize warpage,,,,,next, it'll be the quarter windows and the door frames,,,,,and then the fins and taillights (decided on 60 chryslers).....then a bunch of little stuff,,,,finish welding the 50 merc shell, weld the front pan,,weld the rear pan, round the door and decklid corners,,etc, etc....should be ready for mud in about a month (i hope),,,,,
looks good jim, cant wait to see it done! how bout a shot of the front,i love the front end treatment
maybe neither,,hahah....i put spiders on it and am kinda liking it with the stock wheel openings..... havent ruled out skirts yet though,,,,,still on the fence,, for some reason i cant seem to make decisions on this car,, ive already changed so many of my original plans,,,,happy where its heading though,,,,,
I personally like the skirts better. That smear on the rear quarters look like you were thinking about cutting a radius into the fenders. That I don't think I'd like.
K7777, looks unreal! Like a Billy Hines creation! Nice work, thinkin outside the box on the fins!!! What are the plans for paint? Keep up the nice work and crazy ideas! Its fresh but vintage. -Shiny
thats the best coupe chop i've ever seen. i really dont like chopped coupes. but that one is set to kill
I love how fearless you are on these projects. You go to TOWN brother. Another vote for skirts here...
there is simply nothing cooler than a chopped and sectioned shoebox...except maybe THIS chopped and sectioned shoebox. I cast another vote for that too. More importantly, I know you can do it.
Jim if you radius the wheelwells, it will totally turn me off from the car. Not that you were trying to turn me on, or maybe you were, err.... Whatever the case, Bobby's pink Merc had '56 (right Bobby?) Chevy wheelwells and they really looked cool. The mid to late 50s GM wheelwell with a spider would be killer!
kinda funny,,,i had actually given some thought to using 57 chevy wheel openings,,,,you guys got me thinking again,,thanks a LOT!,,hahah///// 56 or 60 chevy might look cool too..AND i already have skirts for that!~~~ billy,,,,,,,,,,you scare me,,,radiused wheelwells are out for sure now!!!!!!!!!
ideas for the paint,,,,,,,,,,hhhmmmmmmm, i have no f$%^&* idea,,,, seriously,,,,im having a tough time with that one,,,,, id really like to do a candy or pearl..... colors i like: candy lime gold pearl off white silver metallic with a slight tint of green cadillac persian sand platinum pearl orchid pearl (like jimmie vaughns chevy) candy red with gold base.. dont know if any of these would work,,but the color is so important,,,, dont want to do all this work and pick a color that doesnt work,,,
me and you are in the same boat neither gettin anything done to busy making the $$ looking good though man
ill be drivin my bitchin saturn (forget what year it is,,haha ,,seriously,,i own an auto detailing business and this car doesnt even get washed.....,,,,)..ill be selling stuff as usual....every year i scramble to get something ready for gettysburg,,and almost every year my cars arent quite ready,,,,,
thanks flop... gotta pay bills,,,too bad we cant work on them 24/7, huh?... love your car so far.........
I vote this or a deep dark purple metalflake. I love the work that you have done on this car, way to step out of the box!
