been really busy with work at the shop and haven't had as much time as i'd like to work on the shoebox,,(gotta pay the bills first though, huh?)....i almost have the roof welded up,,,probably two more hours and she'll be done,,,,very tedious work,,,but important,,,taking my time to minimize warpage,,,,,next, it'll be the quarter windows and the door frames,,,,,and then the fins and taillights (decided on 60 chryslers).....then a bunch of little stuff,,,,finish welding the 50 merc shell, weld the front pan,,weld the rear pan, round the door and decklid corners,,etc, etc....should be ready for mud in about a month (i hope),,,,,

I personally like the skirts better. That smear on the rear quarters look like you were thinking about cutting a radius into the fenders. That I don't think I'd like.

I love how fearless you are on these projects. You go to TOWN brother. Another vote for skirts here...

there is simply nothing cooler than a chopped and sectioned shoebox...except maybe THIS chopped and sectioned shoebox. I cast another vote for that too. More importantly, I know you can do it.

Jim if you radius the wheelwells, it will totally turn me off from the car. Not that you were trying to turn me on, or maybe you were, err.... Whatever the case, Bobby's pink Merc had '56 (right Bobby?) Chevy wheelwells and they really looked cool. The mid to late 50s GM wheelwell with a spider would be killer!

    ideas for the paint,,,,,,,,,,hhhmmmmmmm,
    i have no f$%^&* idea,,,,
seriously,,,,im having a tough time with that one,,,,,
id really like to do a candy or pearl.....

    colors i like:

    candy lime gold
    pearl off white
silver metallic with a slight tint of green
    cadillac persian sand
    platinum pearl
orchid pearl (like jimmie vaughns chevy)
    candy red with gold base..

dont know if any of these would work,,but the color is so important,,,,
dont want to do all this work and pick a color that doesnt work,,,
