The stands and the Monster were both bad picnics for sure.
Maybe this is a little O/T here but in light of the pics and story does anyone know if Roses' Green Mamba was ever repaired after the theft?
No Big Thing is definitely one of my alltime favorite cars.

Gene Beaver's LA Hooker & Chris Lane's Phoenix came to Australia for the summer of 77/78. At this meet Dale Pulde drove the LA Hooker. Sorry about the quality of the pic's, crap camera, crap photographer, crap lighting.

you took the words out of my mouth. The Jardine BB/GS Vette AKA The Maars Boys was a real competetive car in the class and regularly found itself in the final round while competing in the local So-Cal BB/GS heads up circuit. Car was powered by a blown 396 Chevy for BB/GS and a 331" Chrysler for CC/GS class. Phil Lukens of Blair Speed Shop drove it

Should have mentioned that it was a rear hemi-engine car. If I'm not mistaken it was the only other car besides Dunn's that ever got close to winning. I think it ended up being a sand drag car or something like that.

I think you're right about the sand dragster thing. NHRA outlawed the rear motored funnies about that time. Jim Dunn's car was always one of my fav's.
