both are good looking cars, wish i had your lift rodhots! plym_46 your car is sweet very clean and simple! i have found a 47 business coupe i am looking into keep 'em coming!
Here are a few of mine. It is a 48 but I dare you to tell the difference. Oh, mine is also a club coupe.
They are both 5-window, but the business coupe has smaller rear quarter windows, shorter roof line and longer trunk section.
Plymouth went to the 3 window body for the Business Coupe in 49. Dodge Desoto and Chyrsler had the 3 window from 4o or 41. .
This one was at the HAMB drags in Joplin in 2006. So was this one. [/IMG] My convert (47). [/IMG] My firewall.....stock.... [/IMG] How the original engine should look..... [/IMG]
Gah dang! I think I just skipped a beat!! Anyone know the specs on the chop on the first and third picture?.. Or where to pick up some of those full fender skirts? All these cars are SICK!!! Here's the '47 coupe I'm about to pick up (Sorry for the crappy cell phone picture..):
George here is a side by side to show the difference in the Club Coupe and Business Coupe. The business coupe has the shorter roof line and longer trunk. The Dodge Business Coupe was a 3 window.
Thanks! I had never noticed that there was 2 different 5 w coupes, or that Plymouth was the odd man out on the business coupes.
"Anyone know the specs on the chop on the first and third picture?.. Or where to pick up some of those full fender skirts?" The car 1st pictured is mine. It's actually a 42 but looks a lot like a 47. It has a 5" chop (I bought it this way) and in this picture has fiberglass teardrop skirts. I've since replaced those with 40 ford skirts which fit and look real good with only slight modification. Got them off ebay.

A buddy of mine has a 48 business coupe, anybody know where to get a drivers side quarter panel. What is a good fit for a subframe for these? Is there a good source for other parts?
My 48 has either a 73(?)Chevelle or Cutlass subframe. Works great. A guy I know in Sylacauga some years ago was trying to put a 46 on an S-10 frame, last I heard, he was close to giving up on it.
My 48 is about done for now. Wanna drive it this season so I'm gonna finish the other stuff over the winter. I wanted the hot rod street drag look. With the adj. pinion snubber on I can't get the rear down as low, but it has a good look to the stance when it is as low as it will go. These are before the front clip was put back on. I will put some of the finished ones on soon. Are you building one? Let's see! Bryan
