My Cadillac Bonnet

Doesn't seem to open very far. Look at the shot, I'm 5'11', and i have to crouvch through the opening to get in. If you try & lift it much higher, the rear corners touch the top of the gaurds (Fenders), and i can already see where the paint has been chipped away.
Q. are they all like this, or have i got a hinge problem.
The bonnet (Hood) opens & shuts perfectly otherwise.

 

The Bonnet/Hood is normal for a Cadillac of that year !

Why is it called a 'bonnet"...???

My '55 Caddy hood opens about as far...

One of the old jokes was that the part of your body that hurts the most when you get shocked by a plug wire is the back of your head when you bang it on the hood as you jerk back. You may draw blood a few times before you learn to duck in and duck out.

 

As they said, yours in normal. It isn't until the '59 that you get good access.

No.. they should have stops with little rubber bumpers on them.
