Unless something has changed recently, Linda Tomastik (Clifford's widow) owns the track again.

I may need to check my sources and the rumor mill again.:D

apparently Little River does have a new owner

Temple Academy Raceway has a new name, new owner and is gonna be a lot nicer place to race. Now owned by two time NHRA World Champion Robert "Hutch" Hutchison the famous old dragstrip was ground flat 2 weeks ago. A sealing coat was then applied and the track is getting better with every pass. A new p.a. system is in place, all the buildings have been painted and the grounds are undergoing much needed grooming

I hope he doesnt sign up as a member track with the NHRA or IHRA as that could shut the doors to alot of HAMB friendly cars.

Still trying to iron out the details w/ the wifey on getting a room @ the same hotel as you guys, Casey.
She's opening a new store this week, so it could end up running thru the month. There's no tellin'.
Eitherway, I'm there. Even if I have to grudge match my ugly daily on Friday, just for shits & grins.

Heads up for all attending this event......

Rumor has it that the 1/4 mile lights have been taken out. 1/8 mile only now.(lame)
Also, the track has been resurfaced & although I have not personally seen it, the word on the street is that it is not safe to run on. I hear tell of large grooves in the new surface & at least 2 cars have been destroyed. I know of some folks who are refusing to run there now.
If ya'll are gonna run this thing. Be extra careful. This track is known for being "rough" but what I have heard scares the shit outta me.
    Ya'll be safe.

Sounds like fun 'cept for that last part. Oh well, I don't think my car is strong enough to do any damage. If they did kill the 1/4 mile stuff, we'll just have to figure out how to convert 1/8 to 1/4 times.

I don't know you and I don't know the strip, but WTF? "haven't seen it"... "hear tell of..." Ooooh! STAY home and everything will be alright.
Casey, you guys need to comment on this shit.

I didn't say stay home. I said be extra careful this time out. My sources are good. They know the track & they have run VERY fast cars there for many years. They don't fuck around when it comes to racing & if they are concerned, I am concerned. These folks are the voice of experience. I pass "this shit" along to others so that they may have the heads up & take extra care. Not trying to rain on your parade. I'm trying to keep you informed.

Hey, DW. Not tryin' to make an enemy here, but your comments seemed a little "dumpy" on their show. I'm sure a lot of effort has gone into this event.

If your guys know something that can help, get them to post specifics to help out rather than scare everybody needlessly. I'll be there.

And these guys run there every weekend. I talked to the same folks yesterday and got the low down on this past weekend. I've never seen a car wreck there and for two to wreck since the change makes me nervous. Not that I get going fast enough in the 1/8th to wreck, but for folks that breath 110 oct fire out of there ass, like D dub, I'm nervous. Be careful out there yall.

I guess if the tracks bad we can still have a great time lots of great folks at this one. The racing is not what its all about! First round runner-up, last round winner, It's not the event, it is the people. Thats what makes it great!!!:D:D

talked with gram they were out there last weekend with the blown T his son was home from Iraq and said the track was great ? both sides.
and they have a new pa system.
I have seen people wreck and hit the rail there before .
that was driver and or car error.

  28. Hutch has done a lot of work on the track. They had jet cars on the grand opening on April 19. If you used to go there years ago, not much has changed except no overhead walkway. Always a great place to go. More trees than most , if not all race tracks. It went through another owner last year, but the "deal" went sour. It should be good with Hutch. It is over 50years old.

We always called it "Little River" Thats what we called it when I raced there in the late 60's-early 70's. People were worrying if it would reopen this season... Old school Track...

IHRA Track. They run the Summit Racing Bracket series.

Ok just called hutch . they are going to let us run 1/4 mile :)

even though he`s worried about insurance and not enough shut down room?

I told him we are all trained professionals and have been doing this for years  and that bar at the end of the track will stop ya

D.W. your going to need a parachute or a flathead ? to slow you down

and I talked with him about the track , he said they ground it to 330 ft and worked another 130 ft. so it`s a new track.

It`s only had two races on it and it`s getting better and needs more rubber on the track. last week end a car went 4.80 on it with no problems and they still want to iron it out some more.

he did say there was a vett that hit the rail .

I think all of our street driven hot rod`s will be fine there.
and I hope you show up D.W. this is the only way you and me can race  and your gonna miss my victory doughnuts if your not there :)
