So what is the hot setup as far as Mex Blankets to use for upholstery?? I see wool and acrylic and fleece and who knows what all. Any good advice?? Thanks, K
I have a friend who sells unbrushed Pendleton blanket material by the yard. It makes nice inserts for seat covers. I always felt that a Mexican blanket wasn't cool on your seat if you didn't actually get it in Mexico.
Personally if you have to ask what mexican Blanket is cool to use then the point behind the blanket in the first place is completely lost on you. Somebody used on on a rod in the past and the people who follow rather than lead copied. The point is to cover your seat with the cheapest most durable material you can find, style is not a consideration.
Whoa!! Hold on there, Mandella!! You must have mis-read what I asked. It ain't a style deal, they are all about the same, just different from each other style wise. My question was as in your last sentence, material, durability, texture, and price!! Most folks that know me never had to question my interpretation of cool (with cool being defined as unique, unusual, different, making it work when it ain't supposed to work, etc). PM me if you would like to know about some of it. Pretty long list. Thanks, K
Ive used it a few times, on all occassions either selling the car or hoping for better down the road. Does look better than ripped up original garbage, thats for sure.
the girl in the drivers seat is smokin...but if anyone wants some blankets from mexico PM me iam 20 minutes from the border and will pick em up and ship em to you if you want...you dont have to be mexican..just like you dont have to be japanese to drive a toyota
I bought some nice heavy ones in Mexico for my wagon, I just painted the car and dont have money for interior this year(it is on next years budget list though)... So for now I have some of the really heavy ones, Hecho En Mexico.
SO twenty minutes ago... Start a new trend. Swim the other river. Canadian Blankets are NOW!! http://woolnstuff.com/blankets.html
That seems to be my problem. I can't find any quality heavyweight blankets since I am so far from the source. For those "in-the-area", even South of the Border has a cheapy-ish selection. I'd love to get you to pick some up for me, but I see such a variation of colors, I don't know what to ask for!
Hey just tell him what colors you are interested in and let him go for it Last year when I was down there I bought back 40 blankets n sold them on the HAMB no complaints from anyone who got em. they are made down there but most seem to be poly thread no such thing as cotton anymore at the border Ken
I would use Finnish blankets. They have more grip when you are into the turns. Ya gota be carefull though, the wool is very itchy on naked skin.
hahahahaha! Yeah man, come get all the Hudsons Bay blankets you want! I remember the one my mom had when I was little, damn was that an ITCHY blanket! You can have 'em!
Anything sold at South of the Border is cheap. That place is worse than any junk shop that I have ever been in. Tourist sucker mecca. Place is usually filthy and complete with after dark muggers. About 30 years ago it was still pretty fresh and a half decent place. Now it's like a cheap fake Mexican dump. I would guess that Mexicans don't even shop there. Hell, they so cheap they haven't replaced the lights on their roadside sombrero for over two years. If you want good stuff, that ain't the place to go.
I was just down there last week, nothing is cheap any more. Its become such a tourist trap now even mexico is capitalizing on it, the only way to get stuff cheap there is have someone you know from mexico take you to the "right spots" way south of the border.
