Back in 65, I was in with three other guys on the purchase of a 62 Savoy. This was one of the ex factory non altered wheelbase cars but it had the light weight front end parts, was a post car with the taxi style front seat radio heater delete, slide up and down side windows. Engine was 413 long cross ram 2 4bbl. Trans was push button torqueflite. All photos are faded to black poloroids. We ran it for two summers at the local drag strips, both 1/8 and 1/4 mile. I sold my interest for enough money to pay my first years college tuition.

Was dark green. Torque thrusts on the front, steels on the rear.

  15. YIP, still have mine. An orig "W 51 A990" Coronet, 4 speed car. Looks like # 13 cept mine is a "Body in white" Will have to dig out some pics and try to post. It was bought new in Anchorage Alaska in 65 by a good friend of mine. I got the car in 72. Raced it in 73, mid 10s/130 and has not seen a Drag strip since. Never tubbed, caged or anything, no body mods cept for Bill Stiles tube headers.A "Survivior"
Well as I stated long time ago I would do, here are the pics of my A 990 Dodge I bought in 72. The blue/green is what it looked liked when I brought it home in Feb, had about 18 inches of snow on it when I got it. The rest are what it became in 73 and was raced that year, has not seen a strip since. Other than the wheels taken off and 426 out and in the garage, it looks about the same today. "Thanx for the memories" Later, Dave
BTW: It might be for sale now, PM me. Thanx

If you wondered where all the '60s Mopar sedans went, here's a good clue: The survivors are usually Super Stock clones. Ed and Cathy Strzelecki's '64 Plymouth Savoy Hemi clone runs a cross ram, headlight deletes, and steel wheels. The only thing the car misses is the alloy front sheetmetal.

Here's the historic '63 Plymouth Melrose Missile III car. Bob Mosher restored it to "as-raced" condition and now it's currently sitting in the NHRA museum.

Richard Ingle's original '65 A990 Hemi Coronet which he bought from the original owner in 1966 and still owns to this day. The other car is a blown '65 Plymouth Belvedere built at Mosher's shop in Monrovia CA.

Mine, a 66 Dart, has torsion bars in front, so, you can easily, in 2 minutes with one wrench, raise or drop the front. I suppose it's the same thing on these ones.
